Yes, Imperium is correct in his numbers.

The number of the initial invading force was 200 fleets of 100 Minotaur, 100 Eldritch, 100 Warphant, 100 infantry. The numbers are mostly arbitrary, but I needed a small enough fleet to be difficult to detect, large enough to take out so many planets, and effective enough to get past some of the light defenses that were on world.

The idea came to me about 6 months ago, but I hadn't really quite figured out how to implement it fully in a battle scenario. But there you go. That is how you do it. Also, I believe that is what the Citadel's and some of the planetary forces are supposed to protect against. However, as I suspected from Imperium's comment, the fleets were so small they are quite difficult to detect and somewhat impossible to shoot down from what I saw of Wayward's attempts to stop at least some of them. He did manage to get like... 5 of them I think though. Good Try.

It was a not easy to implement though, it took about 45 min of constant deployment to do that. It also became taxing trying to keep up with so many. Each landing had to be ordered to attack and kept track of to ensure they didn't all get stuck on a planet to get killed. A key to the strategy was persistent movement. Each fleet lands, takes a planet, moves to the next world that you designate. The other key, was overwhelming numbers. There were simply too many fleets to react to with how concentrated Wayward's forces were.

The overwhelming advantage to this strategy is the lack of forces I used. That entire fleet was 2000 Minotaur, Eldritch, Warphant, and Infantry.

After scouting the empire, I found an unguarded jumpbeacon, this became my target. After dividing the empire in half, creating a screen of messages, I attacked the jumpbeacon to which degree I then advanced my main fleets into the area to take the worlds, capitals, and anything I could lay my hands on that had been evacuated by the Hegemony.

Although the goal of turning an angry Hegemony on to destroy the Imperium failed, the goal of the Imperium and Myself to break the Hegemony succeeded. So, well done. But I am somewhat happy for the turn of events. As long as neither has not abdicated, there remains someone to challenge for later players or to make an attempt at obtaining all 5000 worlds.... It's worth a shot

I think next time I will not abdicate. Just to see what becomes of it all, just to see if I can be great and truly defeat one of you.

Another purpose to my abdicating after the wars, is that it frees up a lot of space for other players, it also cuts down on the amount of consolidation needed!

Fences are no match for bugz, gates will not hold back the storm, and even rocks will shatter!

Congrats on the single most destructive act in Anacreon history. It's a little hard to say the exact toll that can be solely attributed to you but the Imperium pretty much just knocked over a few hubs and left so we'll just factor it in. You knocked me down from 1250somthing worlds to 657 and my population went from 11.5 trillion to 5.5 trillion. Sure, not all of those were deaths but we're still talking at least several gigadeaths. I've got some nice maps from before, after and the rebuild that show the scale quiet nicely. I'll post them at the weekend when I have time for a proper propaganda broadcast.

I did initially dispatch fleets to try and counter your invasion but when I saw what you were doing I decided it wasn't worth the action cost to try and stop it, not to mention that the Imperium fleets were out in force and splitting my jumpfleet to try and stop you only to be defeated in detail by them would be silly. Besides, out of all regular players you are arguably the one willing to take the most actions in a war over the longest time period and there was no way I was going to try and compete against that while hung over.

I ended up sending about 30 groups of 50k Minotaurs/Eldritch/Adamant/Warphants/Infantry to your territory and then balled up all my other jump assets and as much ground forces as I could safely grab before making peace with the Imperium. Oh, I've also ceded all the AHGHN worlds/old war worlds outside of the Auroran Quadrant as per the terms of the peace. Hear that small upstart empires? You can freely capture those Auroran worlds outside of my clusters, especially those in the South West. The Hegemony swears that it will not harass, plot against, invade, rain nuclear fire down upon or otherwise destroy any empire capturing those worlds so long as the Imperium remains the greatest power in the galaxy.

In the end I knew that I couldn't stop your attack but that you couldn't kill me, so better to wait it out while preserving as much strength as possible to rebuild/take vengeance. Still, the proof that any empire with a few thousand Minotaurs can cause such destruction (and having the Hegemony survive two Bugz invasions) has prompted me finally implement a doctrine that I have always wanted to try, modified slightly for Era 3: (almost) All In Starships.

So, the idea is this. Every cluster will have one cave/water/earhlike world pair (preferably caves) making Warphants, one c/w/e world making infantry, one more c/w/e making Minotaurs and all other spare industrial capacity making a 50:50 split of Gorgos/Megathere. Also one cluster that just makes Adamants to have a small jumpfleet and provide a bit of a boost to any Minotaur fleets. This will mean that every cluster can provide a modest attack fleet that can still threaten anywhere in clearspace while also defending itself. Total Gorgos/Megathere production is cut by four c/w/e worlds worth compared to a pure Starship cluster but with the incredibly low attrition a cluster will only grow more secure over time. We shall have to see how it goes.

Yeah I haven't been able to build an empire to fighting strength to be able to fight you properly yet. I think by August I will be able to do that though, if you are still playing by then.

Yeah, in honest truth the reason I attack and then leave is because of school. The only reason I attack when I do is because it is when I have the most time, you guys keep making wars in the worst time possible for me hahahaha. So really I only have enough time for the initial attack and I know I can't defend after that time section ends, so I go for the highest destructive strategy possible.

You can ask Imperium though, when I have time, I will fight you until there is an actual end. I am quite relentless as you have witnessed. Yes, you will have to devise some new stratgey to counter that little maneuver next time. Here is the thing though, next time, I think I will have time for a real war instead of these hit and run tactics ok?

Yeah, I pride myself on my ability to rip through any empire.... seriously, if there is a hole, I will find it.

I really really felt like it was a true invasion though, it was spectacular. I hit all of your extra AHGHN within about 3 tics of each other, if you were on you would not have been able to respond. The Flight of the Bugz though was just... beautiful... And to see that you decided to guard your fleets instead of fight and wait it out was brilliant, just brilliant. It looked so cool.

I seriously wanted to stick around for your counter attack, and even I was on when your fleets started to arrive. I think you would have found it a bit difficult, but you might have over powered me with the 30 fleets ahahahha. Problem was that I had projects, so I just left with the hope that you would be furious with a lack of enemy and turn on Imperium, guess not. But that is ok, no worries, I will just.. figure out something else. There has to be a way to bring you down. I'll figure it out.

I would suggest working on your strategy, because now you know that I've got all kinds of tricks. Sitting on your starfleets will only help you for so long. I won't smash a Billion fleets against you just so you can giggle, I'll figure out a way in.

Greetings from the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Union of Soviet Socialist Systems, Marshal Fred Longsword!

We come in peace.

The motion to ratify the edict of agreement to the invitation to the Galactic Forum has just been approved by the Counsel of the Soviets, and I hereby notify this to you eminent and honoured diplomatic envoys of all the civilised worlds of the galaxy.

I guarantee that all the red tape, modules and procedures to come to this conclusion were expedited as hastily as our bureaus could handle the file, and our overseer office could check on the work done by the first level bureaucrats, and our supervision commission could examine the scrutiny of the overseer office on the procedure.

The most renown products of our glorious industries include vodka, rocket engines, caviar and red tape: we are leaders in the galactic production of mouse-printed paperwork, we have a form for anything you could possibly imagine.
Average efficiency over all the systems has skyrocketed to 15% during the course of the current Quinquennial Plan, a stratospheric result that shows the greater achievements of the united proletariat under the enlightened rule of the Communist Party, the organised avantgarde of the Revolution.

You may have heard of pockets of rebellion on some planets, but I deny these false allegations coming from imperialist propaganda. We have evidence that the ringleaders of the so called rebel forces are drug lords, leading armies of mercenaries and criminals, instigated by foreign powers to hamper the people's efforts to improve the living standards in our lands, through sabotage and other offences, in a conspiracy aimed at stunting the success of the 5-years plan.

With kind regards,
Marshal Fred Longsword - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Union of Soviet Socialist Systems.

The Imperium welcomes the Soviet empire to the galactic stage.

May your civilization fare better than the last two empires that went for the Communists-In-Space theme. So far it seems to be doing quite well: alive 38 days and counting, with a modest jumpfleet and a few small trade clusters set up.

...and a big inefficiency problem.

My trade hubs seem unable to handle the job. It's a micromanaging nightmare right now xD

It is with great pride that the Empire of Sol announces our arrival as an independent and autonomous people.
The 16-period old Empire of Sol somehow spawned right in the middle of Imperium territory, after which it proceeded to capture undefended production worlds left and right to form a minature cluster right in the middle of the Imperium heartland.

While new players are always welcome, I feel it's appropriate to point our latest aspiring galactic emperor/warlord ikeaj towards Watch TV's New Player Guide and more specifically: Wayward Device's Diplomacy Guide. (Scroll down past "Additional Guides and FAQ")

If surrounded by a larger empire on all sides, it's probably wiser to quit (Empire Tab -> Abdicate) and restart. You will be assigned a new capital spawn position each time. Failing that (i.e. having quit and restart several times and all spawn points are still surrounded), find the large empire that's surrounding you and TALK TO THEM (Capital -> Empire -> Send Msg). Usually there's a fresh patch of worlds somewhere out there they can direct you to. Well, if you ask nicely they might even provide gifts of ships and troops before sending you on your merry way.

The alternative, of course, is to go full space mongol and capture every world in sight. Bad idea, as this image of Imperial Pacification Fleet #140502 conquering their capital New Mars demonstrates:

MORE IMPORTANTLY, ikeaj: this "Era"/Beta 3 game is drawing to a close.

The developer George will be implementing new features and bugfixes in an "Era 4", which will happen in approximately 4-5 weeks from now.

Accompanying said changes will be a new map, in which you may restart and (re)try your hand at galactic domination without all our pesky huge empires in the way. Everyone will be on equal footing then.

Best of luck!

I've abdicated.

In light of the approaching Era 4, I don't see much point in continuing to maintain a 1000 world Imperium, and there are other games I'd like to spend my free time on

That said: the whole 50 million strong Grand Imperial Fleet has been transferred to the Bug King's 03 empire as part of a special... arrangement, just a few hours before the entire Terran population was loaded into arkships bound for the new galaxy, and the former capital complex levelled with atomics.

So let's just say we'll be expecting a lot of excitement for the ones still playing in the few remaining weeks of Era 3...

Long live the Imperium!

Ducking out of the Brawl at the End of the Era? Fah! Fah I say! I had a whole propaganda thing going that I was going to stick with the all in starship total defense doctrine, but really I've been planning to switch to all in Helion production tomorrow night. My estimates put me at between 43 and 64 million a day. 130-190 million Helions should have been able to sweep those groups of 3 million Minotaurs you had guarding your caps. My spies even tell me that certain ancient powers were building a plucky coalition. Humbug!

Never mind though, I think I'll ball up my starfleet on Aurora and flip everything to Helions tomorrow anyway. May as well see what a couple of days of a little over 1000 worlds making them looks like. Even if FTL advanced edition does have it's hooks into me again. I hate using the Engi B cruiser to try and unlock the C variant so much but I can't stop, send help.

Oh, don't worry... I'm sure 03 will give the Hegemony's starships a good battering with the entire Imperial military having been transferred to their control. In fact, I'm expecting it. Look at what they did with 1M Minotaurs last time, now they have 20M

Also, before I abdicated I checked and 03 was definitely too small for you to swat preemptively without a social order penalty. Like the FTL's Federation, the Aurorans will very likely be making a doomed final stand at their capital world against an immeasurably superior enemy force. Good luck!

365 years they have stood. They have indeed survived the test of time. Other powerful empires in the past have proven to survive intense blasts of plasma and the explosions of countless missiles, but in the end, time got to all of them. Others seemed to rise from nothing, growing and expanding into an empire of incomprehensible strength, but they all collapsed back into the dust whence they came, leaving no trace behind.

Yet the Saxophon Trader’s Union has existed from the very beginning. They’ve experienced every war, met every empire, they have even seen the nebulas move! Congratulations, my friend, for surviving 365 arduous cycles!

But something is not right. I can feel it in the cosmic winds, I can see it in the nebular gas. I fear for our peaceful neighbour.

The end is near. It is later than we think. Go! Go! Prepare yourselves!

Some have already departed for the new galaxy, but it is too late for us who are left behind. But don’t let this dishearten you, for The Bug King is correct. A better future awaits us all. However, before a new day dawns, we must go through the night. This one is set to be longer and more dangerous than any we have ever experienced. Only those prepared will survive.

Good luck my friends, and may we see each other again in the morning.

Yes, the destruction is upon us. Where will the destruction come from, you may ask. No one knows. From our own citizens? From our closest allies? From the galaxy itself? Only time can tell.
