Have you - anybody - took on the Ark in Heretic ?

If so , did it blow itself to bits?

it happened to me.....but I forgot to ask if it was " just me " .

In older versions, I killed the Ark the old-fashioned way - shoot it until it dies.

It has happened to me once as well, just one shot too many and poof, no wreck to loot.....
After that I have become a bit more careful, use a big gun with WMD to almost kill the ark and finish it off with something less likely to blow up the wreck. Usually some ion weapon (without WMD) will do.

If the Ark wreck has fuel, ammo, or other volatiles in its loot, then taking damage from explosions or WMD weapons has a chance to blow it up like a crate bomb.

I thought volatile loots just add to the power of the death explosion. They also give a chance of instant destruction as well?

The Ark SHOULD Always leave a wreck to loot ( kind of like Arco ) because it's a mission ship.
The Old Ark :

explosionType= "&vtThermoExplosion2;"
leavesWreck= "100"
Today's Ark :
explosionType= "&vtThermoExplosion4;"
Notice it does not Leave a Wreck...

To allow a mission ship to explode beyond the Player's ability to loot for a Relic ......that's just setting the Player up to fail the mission.

As much as I play ( usually unregistered or off line ) I NEVER got into the specs of weapons.
I just go with what works for me.
When I get to the Ark I want a Howitzer : usually a Tev9 can handle everything else..

I see stations that are harder to crack, but not ships built better ..kind of self defeating since I think most Players loot & deal with weapon / shield sales then anything and much of that is from shipwrecks.

I am one of those guys that can't seem to access the Ministry properly, I don't think pets are allowed there .. but I will give it a try ..right now...it worked! ..
guess the guards were still sleeping :)
