I was going to stuff these on an image in my signature, but my signature doesn't seem to show, probably because I haven't posted enough or something. So I'm just going to make a new topic to house my space ship graphics for people look at and provide feedback on.

Image

Templar-class armed cargo transport. This was actually my second attempt once I got my rendering environment setup properly. I had a bunch of really low detail ship models that I was using for an earlier project, and I attempted to place them in Transcendence only to find that wolfy's graphics advice is true - textures can't make up for detail. So since my low detail ship looked horrid, I made a quick effort to hike up the detail level and this is my first attempt at that.

Image

Starlight-class defender. This is my second attempt at improving the detail level of a model. This one actually had a lot of work done to it including replacing the disk and the side engines entirely, and adding new extruding armor plates all around the main hull.

Image

Stalwart-class gunship. My third attempt at adding more detail, this one received a whole lot of armor plates, some detailed engine models that unfortunately you can't see here, and a few exterior cannons that you really can't make out either!

Image

Teraton Interceptor. This ship was build as an addon for the Teraton faction. It was my first attempt at emulating the Teraton's style. I think it turned out okay.

Image

Teraton Crab Fighter. I call it a crab because it turned out looking like one. I probably need to fix the textures on the main sphere a bit since it looks like an eyeball. This ship was intended to be a slower, more dogfight oriented variation of the interceptor.

Image

Teraton Arbiter. This is the heavy gunship of the fleet. It retains the abilities of a fighter, but has more firepower, "missile" support (or whatever the Teraton equivalent would be), and of course, its big. I think a lot of the spikes got overly-obscured in the shadows.

Image

Teraton Freighter or Transport. There is also a two-segment variation of this but I won't post it here, since this one is better. This ship is designed to be roughly the equivalent of a Scarab-class superfreighter, although it probably holds somewhat less.

Image

Teraton Radial Defender. I don't know what else to call it. This one is based on wolfy's early concept for a Teraton ship with "radial symmetry". It has a 30-degree firing arc weapon on each arm as well as an omnidirectional cannon in the center.

Image Image

Teraton Thingamajig. Not really sure what this is - was meant to be some kind of peculiar freighter design or something, but I don't think that's how it turned out. Looks more like a giant armored weapon of mass destruction.

[Edit] Now with tub-free variation, known as the Thingamabober.

Image

Agessor-class Destroyer created by the Starwright Corporation. Likely on par with a Charon pirate frigate, were this a standard AI ship instead of a player ship, it would come equipped with two omnidirectional lasers, some serious forward-facing firepower, and probably some missiles. Oh, and the model is way-freaking more detailed than it looks in the picture.

Image

Commonwealth Praetorian-class Missile Ship. Designed as heavy tactical support for the Centurion gunships, the Praetorian comes equipped with omnidirectional TeV 9 and an array of Lucifer missiles. Got an Ares dreadnought heading your way? Send out the Praetorians - their missile payload will make quick work of any singular threat.

Image

Ringer battle pod - small, elusive fighter with powerful weaponry and heavy armor, yet fast and difficult to target.

That's all for now!

These are very very nice! I particularly like the Stalwart, but the Teraton line is impressive too. I hope to see some of them on xelerus someday... or did I just miss them?

Added my Agessor-class destroyer. I'm also thinking of stripping the tubs off the side of that latest Teraton experiment and making it into another regular looking ship.

Hey, could you help me redo the Stephinians mod? The first version was an epic fail, mostly because it didn't work, but also because I had to use vanilla graphics for the ships. Perhaps you could do some graphics for me?

I have no idea what a Stephinian mod is, but if you show me some ship pictures I can probably work on some new ones at some point.

I think he drew up a picture in paint once - sort of a rounded green long rectangular thing: think "green mikeno", just longer.

(It's the big brown ship at the bottom)

I'm not sure if that's still the design he's using though.

Indeed I did. The horror...

EDIT:
Can you make me a Corsair with some ailen technology sort of added on to it? It's supposed to be a Corsair wreck that the Stephinians repaired and upgraded.

Here's everyone's favorite harbinger of doom, the giant space crystal!

Image

The idea is that you find these floating around very slowly, similar to the raider platforms only without any escorts. If they find you, they'll follow you incessantly. They have crystalline armor that regenerates and reflects energy weapons, but is vulnerable to kinetic and especially blast. They're pretty darn hard to kill. They never leave a wreckage behind, because when they go they shatter. Not sure how to arm them yet - either some massive persistent beam like the Ares Juggernauts, or perhaps domina/oracus style wave attack.

a crystal should have some kind of electric or electric wave attack, emp, peaceful constraint, lightning beam. perhaps some device damage too. I would expect a giant electric crystal to crush shields and disrupt sensors but do relatively little physical damage to anything other than sensitive systems (human body included, exposed lights, engines, antennae, anything connected to the inside of the ship.)

Oh yeah, a giant invincible crystal that follows you and EMPs you constantly = fun. :P Peaceful constraint and equipment damage would be fine though.

hadn't thought of that, at least it's slow...

shouldn't it shed off broke pieces when shot? crystal is valuable right, but it could be hazardous to bring regenerating electric crystal on board.

In 1.0: maybe you could apply it to your armor, with either the chance of it giving a boost or messing your armor up.

bring the shards to the tinker station and they will make "giant crystal paste" barrels to slap on the armor :D

can you send me the "thingamabober" ship? ^^
I'll use that as the teraton plasma drill ship.
