The tutorial has been updated. list of changes:

- You can now download the article as a pdf-file with syntax highlighting,
- the article now includes the original armor HUD texture template-image for download,
- an updated (non-blurry) armor rotation diagram,
- some cosmetic changes.

That tutorial is really good, and I learned a lot from it, but it uses API 22, while the current API is 28 or 29.
If you combine that article with the information in the February Monthly Mod Jam thread, you'll probably run into fewer roadblocks.
