I suggest looking up "Blender Spaceship" on youtube - there's some great tutorials available there.

 Not all modders, just most of them. Most modders who don’t use Blender probably use Wings3D, though there are other options out there.* Both Blender and Wings3D are free software. Your best bet is to look for tutorials and try both of them out, then go with whichever one you think you get better results with.

* I’m actually one of the more notable exceptions, myself, since I don’t use either — and I don’t recommend POV-Ray unless you think you’d enjoy learning a programming language to do abstract geometry and recreational algebra. <.< >.> <.<;

Of all the things I’ve lost in life, I miss my mind the least. (I’m having a lot more fun without it!)

Alright, I will download both of them. I'll try to learn drawing though I'm too busy to do that.

Blender has a much steeper learning curve, but it's a complete software. Wings3d is only a modeler, which is very easy to use and fast to learn. You still need a 3d renderer to make ships after modelling them in wings3d.
