I am thinking of making a bounty mod. ie you gain money for destroying enemy ships.
The thing is how should I balance it (the extra money in the game)?

If you will to, you could set a almost immediately respawn, but you get zero money and basic equipment!

You could be really annoying - make everything ultra rare, and only miniscule amounts appearing. So you can buy everything you see, but there won't be much of it. Aside from that, maybe give the enemy better weapons and shields (I realise this would require making lots of new equipment, and making it all virtual maybe) so you have to work for your new money
If every fight was a potential killer, it would make you think twice about blowing that commune. Maybe make the enemies sent after you less common too.

Do you mean for ALL enemy ships to be worth a bounty? or do you mean to have specifically targetted ships for the player to kill for the bonus?Betelgeuse wrote:I am thinking of making a bounty mod. ie you gain money for destroying enemy ships...

I guess you could try to balance the extra money by:
a) resetting the costs of items, or
b) decreasing the amount of loot taken from 'killed' ships.
b) seems maybe best to me. Forcing the player to concentrate more on combat than on looting dead ships and hauling the loot back to a station, which becomes tedious after a while in my opinion.
