So my computer got infected from a flashdrive. I thought I cleared it out at first, but it avoided deletion somehow so I had to go in manualy to wipe it out. However, if continually forced folders to be hidden by setting the show hidden folders bit to 0, so supposedly I couldn't change it even via reg-edit... wrong- I went in, and changed the HIDE hidden folder's bit to 0 AND its default to 0, which caused a bug in windows which deselected BOTH of them (because of me and the virus) but the way windows is designed, the radio button for show hidden folders merely deactivates window's program to HIDE them, thus not having it selected didn't matter!
I pwned that virus bare handed... or as much as you can in terms of fighting over the registry keys... :P

Hmm. You'd probably have been able to get at it just by booting into a commandline interface.

Good job. I need to write that virus that infects a computer network and plugs all the security holes so no other viruses can get in.
[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad
