Heh, the UNID database thread apparently got so big that the forum software can't read some of it anymore. Lulz.
[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad

Perhaps the UNID database could be transferred over to the Wiki?

If presented as a simple table with two columns (UNID - Nick) it would be a fraction of it's current size.

nah, it's simply an empty page of posts (page 13th, sometimes happens, i have no idea why)
the last post of the topic is on page 12, and are all visible.

Anyway, yes, we should transfer the UNID list to wiki.

I'm seeing page 13 fine, and my TX2 thread has more posts...?

We should seriously consider coming up with a way for people to register their own UNID for mods. Editing a thread is getting a little cumbersome, and if we move the UNIDs to another web application as well- well, that just creates more upkeep for the one or two people who keep the thing up to date. Let's automate the process.

Something simple like a single mySQL db table to record the registered UNIDs, and a basic form for modders to submit a UNID. It can validate for unique value, single UNID per customer, and whether or not the person is registered here. All too easily.

It's really a very simple thing, I can write the thing as a php script extension for phpBB, or someone with access to the phpBB files could also do it, if we wanted to host it here on the forums. Probably take about 20 minutes.

We could also make a stand-alone version, or try to hook it up to the wiki, depending on what the wiki is written in.

Another option would be to add this functionality to Xelerus and import the data here in the forums and on the wiki or main site as desired.

The wiki could be used, it makes it look alright but Xelerus would be great. The wiki used is DocuWiki if that helps it uses flatfile and the only issue I'd see with integrating it would be authentication. But I can't poke aruond right now

But authentication for large mods (like TX2: I'm NOT going to use the same UNID for both TX2 and standalone mods. It's just too messy and too hard to keep track of. I have everything nice and neatly organized in TX2 as well :P (ie, range of ... to ... is resources, ... to ... is ships)) would be a bit harder to make (without having to create a sepparate user account, just for the mod...

Well, perculi said something about authentication, and it was more aimed at that than anything else...
