There is a difference between intelligence and a program able to exploit human perception. Look up 'the policeman's beard is half constructed' - its utter nonsense, but at least grammatically correct nonsense, however most people will try to find and apply - all incorrectly - meaning to the words and phrases.

This is completely true, the thing about markov is its inherenty random, and the more word pairs it gathers the more random it will be. Plug in 1 for a start in a markov chain and watch how far it spirals in either direction. You can understand how it 'picks', it takes a little while to wrap your head around it but in the end its just putting random pairs together to make a sentince that can make a tad bit of sense. Which is great, but it is not actually understanding.
