Hello all, I have two sort-of related questions:
1. Where is everyone? I cannot get the IRC Map to load. Does anyone keep statistics? For example, which country (or continent) has the most users?

2. Is anyone planning on attending the final Space Shuttle launch this July? I really wanted to go in person, but cannot (prior obligations).

Thanks for looking!

With the IRC map, not everyone is at the computer even though it says they are on. Some people idle on there most of the time, or you haven't been allocated to a specific channel yet.

As for your second question, that would be against the IRC rules and regulation's, plus you can ask them directly in an orthodox manner.

Umm, not sure you understand. The map simply doesn't load (for me). I click the link, Google Maps says loading... and then nothing happens... no map ever loads, nothing. I've tried numerous times, and it's never loaded, hence the statistics questions.
As for the second question, I just meant here, on the forums, not on IRC. (It doesn't seem to work too well for me). Okay?

sorry i completely misunderstood the question.
How east is your internet speed and what browser are you using.

I am not sure hey, i guess some people don't want other people to know where they are from, personal securities i guess, i mean you could ask them directly once you have developed a friendship of sorts, personaly i am from zimbabwe, the place where that bastered lives. :D

As for the shuttle launch, do you know where it is happening and when.

I could get a screenie and post it here if you want. As for the last space shuttle launch, I didn't know. It would be a sad event but hopefully a bridge to the future of space exploration, the Sapphire-class yacht (I wish).
On a serious note, I do hope this is not the end of manned exploration of space (I don't keep up with space news, so I don't know what's next)

In terms of the shuttle....It's not the end, but it's the end of a rather interesting program...and probably the end of government spacecraft leading the way...although really, that happened when they dropped the Saturn V program (and the even more insane craft that would have probably followed it) in favour of the shuttle. That said, SpaceX's Falcon 9 Heavy has some great potential....most powerful rocket since the V. Combine that with the fact they're already developing the Dragon capsule for manned spaceflight...and the fact that they're one of many companies working on manned and unmanned craft....and yeah, I don't think it's the end by any means.

Oh, and in terms of IRC stuff.....ask Ttech. There's also a google map somewhere that shows where *some* of us are...but given people set their own icons voluntarily, it may or may not be the most accurate system. :P

Lol.. yes, the Nova. I believe it was even more powerful (in some configurations anyways) than the proposed Ares V?

Butting in, guys does anyone here know about a real experimental plasma engine that's proposed to be used in future space travel? I just browsed on the abstract in Discover or Popular Mechanics one time. I thought they were kidding. :?:

I consulted the Oracle of America Wikipedia and found they have been messing with them since the 60's but it is either still a little advanced for us or they are keeping it quiet. In today's age of knowing everything instantly I imagine the full tech is out of our current range.
