I've added some of the helper functions from the forum thread and elsewhere to the wiki. (See bottom part of this page). You can post here if there is anything in particular you'd like to see included there.
I'd also like to encourage people to sign up for the wiki so they can use the talk pages, add their own stuff and correct things.

Where is the talk page for the functions page?
Some of the functions that end up in the forum thread also end up in CommonFunctions.xml, just namespaced and sometimes with a different name.

Talk page links have to be manually added, and I obviously missed that one.
