UTF is dead. The "guy" you were talking about was probably me (it always is).

Seeing a dead forum is kind of depressing. I remember one ZZT forum I joined. Everyone was so melancholy.

It wasn't totally dead. It was like a star that had collapsed into a brown dwarf and was just waiting for its last bit of fuel to burn out and go cold.

Shame Invision PB is not free.. that too is my favourite forum system by far.

I have not had any issues with the current board, so PHPBB3 sounds like a good choice to me!
