I see that confused people still end up there looking for help or stuff. And then they are not getting any, since nobody but me bothers to go check, and even then I only check once, maybe twice, a month for the people who managed to end up there.

The forums should be locked (but so they can still be seen for archival purposes) and a single redirect link pointed to OTF.

Fossaman was one of the admins on there... I think hes still semi-active (Coming in from time to time)
Not sure if Yugi is an admin, but he was active a week or two ago.

This place is so active, I don't see a reason for another forum anyway.
Besides, I'd much rather hang out around the "official" place, because that tells me I'm more likely to get correct answers, than an "unofficial" forum (even if, in reality, both places are just as good)

I don't think I've even gone to the UTF (at all). I like this forum -- everyone is really friendly and helpful :D , unlike other forums I've belonged to....

UTF was the original forum, before george opened the official one... that is basically the only reason it has ever seen that amount of traffic. afaik it dies many years ago, and the only traffic it sees now is by accident or from really old-timers :)

By accident, yes. It seems a little unfair to new comers to confuse them with different forums. I see now that it was established way back when george had not done anything, but now there IS the offical forums, I personally don't see the need for more than one forum. Encourage more people here to post.

And for that matter, why is there like 17,000+ people registered but only a hundred or so users that have actually posted anything?

Every time I log back on (which is usually every half hour), there is like twenty extra users registered. It seems a little odd. Are they all waiting for actiavtion or what?

We would close down the old forum if we could. None of those who have any rights for it have been active in a long long time. That is basically what this thread is about.

Regarding the users. This forum is running an old forums software which is vulnerable to bot (spambots) signups, which is the reason for the manual activation scheme. Until george gets the time to upgrade the forum software it is not likely to change... At least they are not getting in :)

Are you saying most of the 17,000+ people are spambots? :?

I guess that explains a lot! ;)

Sounds like a good idea. Simply locking so that it can be kept for archival purposes would be best.
