We don't have an official thread about the forums, rather, we have a bunch of posts relating to different problems.
EDIT: 3/2/11. We do now. It's called the New Forum Thread.
Thus this thread has been established to notify others of bugs in the forum and discuss the future of the forum, including pestering George until he allows the admins to upgrade the system.
So far, we have one main recurring bug: Emailer.php.
This nasty little guy pops up when posting or making a private message and seems unrelated to any kind of forum you are in when posting.
There is no known work-around, however your post will be submitted, do not double post.
A new one is the "PHP Critical Error" bug. It appears when attempting to access the forums or when navigating to pages, including when making posts. Provided you refresh your browser, your post will go through.
It looks different depending on if you get it when navigating or posting.

You forgot the SQL errors and such.
However I'm not sure if upgrade as much as migrate would be the imagined term. PHPbb has had not had a great track record with keeping things maintained and well working. Least in my experience.
Side note, should we perhaps not as much post until the forums have been cured of this sql error?[/b]

They have been functioning intermittently, but the problems have been persisting for over 12 hours now.
Also, limiting posting will not mitigate the effects of this error.

The errors are unrelated, however the database ones qre either from corrupted database or high load. The emailer is just from issues of phpbb2alterecco wrote:Also, all of these errors have always been present, at least in the time I have been here. Why they come in spikes I don't know... possibly due to server load.

I agree. I had some troubles getting on just now. It still seems as bad as ever. There are (as far as I have seen) two times when they are worst. Around 9:00 GMT and around 4:00 GMT. This is also when most the forums are most active, so I think it is probably forum load.
