I had a problem with the forums tonight. I kept on getting the error "General Error - can't open style data". It turned out that the styles table was corrupted, so I had to rebuild it (more or less by hand).

Everything seems to be working for me, but if you have problems accessing the forums, please let me know: [email protected].

As I recall, corruption of the tables has accounted for the majority of forum failures

I've been getting that since last week. I thought it was my server's fault. Thanks George for the info. :D

I know I'm being a post necromancer and opening up an old thread, but this might be helpful.
I use a service to monitor uptime on my server, http://pingdom.com/. It allows only one or so sites, but if you used it on the forums to check if html is loading a certain way it can alert you if the forums act up quite quickly. Might be useful? Cheers.
