MoTM Broken?

Post by StealthX051 » Mon Mar 23, 2015 10:28 pm

Raptor: Call of the Shadows has been the Mod of the Month on xelerus for over a year now. Even the banner is stuck in February. Given that the curator (bimbel, I think?) of xelerus is no longer an active participant in the Transcendence community, is there anyway to fix this bug?

Sadly, it's not a bug. It's that Ttech got busy with life and couldn't keep doing MotM :(

Is there noone both able and willing to continue MoTM?

I'm not sure. Seems to me that only a few select people have admin privileges on xelerus.

yeah, I sort of lost interest too. In one of the last rounds of votes that we did, less than 10 people voted.

If people are interested, we can restart MOTMs of course.

There seems to be a lot more active users in the past months, so if it is advertised properly both here on the forums and on the IRC channel then I think the vote turnout will be much better.

To be honest, most users don't really lurk around these forums. The last thread that has recent activity in 'Community Talk' was in 2012. I would suggest putting it in Commonwealth or another forum where more people actually check.

The modding community has slowed down quite a bit since way back when. Perhaps a MOTY would work better?

True. Maybe a mod of (3 months). 6 months? I think a year is a bit too long, though.

Mod of the Quarter, perhaps?

I'd love it if this started up again! Definitely send out a poll, to all forums just to make sure it's seen.

I can start MoTM again, but it partially stopped due to decrease in mod development. But I'd be happy to try starting it up again dual month - Jan Feb, Mar Apr, etc.

I think the mere fact that it is restarting may be motivation enough for some modders. I look forward to seeing a bunch of new posters out there! :)

I'd try groups of three months first, going by the rate at which mods have come out in the past. We can always make it more frequent if things pick up.
