I know it's not by mod (if you were the doing my perma challenge I'd understand) b/c you play Vanilla.

mm very nice. I can certainly say for my self that I am ver interested. :P It resembles the game high score quite a bit.

If you ever want some help or some ideas for the stuff - like graphs, grouping by game type, checking, extension checks, etc. (probably sick of me asking by now -- Sorry... I'll hide now.)

BTW: There is an API to retrieve this:

You can do a GET on:

There's two ways to do it:

1. have your shield and most of your armor taken out by something else (Eg. Arco, a station explosion)
2. Install light or ultra-light titanium armor and sell your shield.

So I guess it doesn't count high scores for games w/resurrection? I had a system crash take me out but ascended w/ no natural deaths, but the score didn't log. <Sigh>. I will keep my hold the top score!

I think this was my first game with no Black Market shipyards; I was still running a Nova 100 on my Sapphire when I passed Jiang's Star. I looted a heavy slam cannon two systems after Eridani and it was my only primary weapon all the way into Teraton space. (Fortunately, I also found a lot of Lucifers and Broadswords). A positron lancer appeared in an adventurer's outfitters 1 system after St. K's and it became my primary mission to accumulate enough money to buy it, so I never laid out any cash for an intermediary weapon.

I never mounted an energy weapon other than the positron lancer, which was a first for me (plasma damage is in the kinetic-blast-thermo family since plasma weapons don't take Longzhu spheres.). I used six weapons, three launchers and six shields in the course of the entire game.

Recoilless -> AK15 -> heavy slam -> (positron lancer & FPC) -> (+150% positron lancer & +40% IFC)
NAMI -> Rasiermesser -> Back to NAMI -> Ares Launcher
MKI deflector-> MKII -> C1200 (a surprisingly good shield) -> Invincible -> plasma -> Taikon 200.

I mounted two throwaway shields after I got my Taikon 200 in order to test field crystals but I never went into combat with them. Armor was whatever I found that had big numbers on it; I ended up ascending in full octocarbide +50%.

There was no point in the game that I felt really vulnerable, although it was touch and go towards the end of the Nova-100's life because the Invincible kept crapping out. Domina powers were juggled pretty much continuously after St. K's but I think I only had to Shatter twice. I died three times while insured and then started to play carefully ;).

I skipped the Huari missions and did all the Lamplighter missions but couldn't find Admiral Decker so I never got the gun. I did find the Antarctica but I left it alone. I totally screwed up protecting the Heretic research stations and ended up having to kill 30-40 sentinels before I found one with the final research ROM. A Taikon 200 is an excellent choice for Heretic due to fast regeneration and intrinsic plasma resistance. The positron lancer is pretty much the perfect anti-sentinel standoff weapon, especially so given that Domina bumped it to +30% and then I dumped 7 longzhus into it. Domina upgraded my Fracture cannon to +40% but it was generally underwhelming against Sentinels so I stopped using it once I hit Heretic. Big Blue was fairly anticlimactic because I had brought a Longreach and just spammed Warhammers at him from range until he died.

All in all it was a fun run and a very unusual one for me, equipment-wise. RNG was very kind to me; shame about the crash. This was my third ascension and first since George introduced the new Heretic.

Iocrym plasma weapons are (mistakenly?) tagged as energy weapons and may be enhanced by longzhu spheres. This is why the Iocrym Fracture Cannon is so good. Enhance it to +150%, and it will kill anything, except maybe the command ship, in a second or two.

I'm not thrilled with the IFC's range or projectile speed. I'd rather fight the Iocrym while staying outside of their firing range. Those elongated projectiles also make aiming tough. That said, it really is the perfect tool for dealing with pteravores.

IFC range leaves much to be desired, but when enhanced, the damage is so high that it does not matter. The only target I would not use it on, at least not without the Domina power Defend, is the command ship because its Avalanche Cannon is about as deadly as a +100% IFC. For the final battle, nothing (except Gem of Sacrifice) beats a +150% IM90. IM90 may not be as damaging as other tier 4 level X weapons, but it allows the player to kite the ships easily.

I was quite satisfied with my unenhanced Ares Launcher and I'm convinced that most of the damage that I did was with my Warhammers. I am a big fan of launchers and ammo-dependent weapons; it's one of the reasons I rarely use the Wolfen.


Speaking of launchers, check out my newest bones file and see if you can tell what was unusual about my installed items- specifically, what I didn't have. ;). This was a very cool playthrough and I was sorry to have it ended prematurely by another crash.

It looks like a crash when the player is destroyed ("game state: destroyed" means that the player has been killed). Is it possible that the explosion of the Sung Citadel killed you? If so, that's a clue that might help me find the bug.

I'm not sure. It seems likely that the explosion killed me since I was pretty close to the citadel and my shields were down. My first crash was definitely not associated with a death, though.

One question ...

How are games with custom extensions handled? Do they also count towards the highscores? If so is there any penalty compared to "vanilla" games?
The JSON-output doesnt give me a clue here.
