***** Important Information ****

If you downloaded ( within the first 40-ish downloads ) Midst Of Dragons and find an error : Please download another copy of the extension , I probably caught the error by the time you found it.
***************************************************************

I added a second version of the IniGenCorp, they make & sell space suits ( which you need for this extension - no more running around Space without one )

you can sell & buy suits - just make sure you always keep one for yourself.

Dragons: not dangerous to the player unless you make them that way - otherwise they are cool and you can play alongside them ( if you're careful ).

I did have other extended plans for them & the Player but that has to wait - I got caught up in Images that can be used for the game and a little diversity is always good.

The Primary " Mission" of the extension will not interfere with anything, you can even skip it.
once you gate out of a system the mission ships should gate too ( usually if you back track they will be leaving)

the reason for this is
A) if you skip out, they don't need to bother you by being there
B) it reduces "some" load on your CPU since the game pushes my Dinosaur to max.

if you Mine like I do , it's your best chance to play with Dragons and learn about them enough that later you can see how good they can be to have around.

Effects - you all know I am not a fan of the effects that I think are way ahead of their time

I restored some ( not all ) Nostalgia back to the game with the extension, you be the judge & jury to see if I am right or not.

otherwise, besides the issues I don't see anybody fixing ( yet ) and I don't know how to compensate for them because I am just a Loyal Player.... it's posted.

Updated the first post, and the extension :

xelerus is not letting me post a comment tonight for some reason so I have not be able to say anything about updating the extension as I find any errors on that site.

The Aquilas were interestingly not playing well after release.... But I think I got it now. I played it for days and never hit a problem, once it was released it went crazy.

IniGen with no products for sale - Not a Bug..technically .. - but I did try to attack that in an update to the extension.

these two items were the biggest things I found in the extension after release, if you download a fresh copy you can return to your game and continue playing where you left off.

Korolov Might ask the player to escort to a Centauri Station : it is NOT ( technically ) a Bug, but it's not supposed to happen.

I had them set to " -centauriWarlords; " but like alot of things in 1.7.1a it was an order that gets ignored.
the latest Extension should prevent that.

Spoiler

for those that have not yet met or figured out a weakness in the Ship Vault.

If you are on a wreck with a Vault ( unlike the Europa ) you can get the Vault code from the Bridge.
The ship's computer will give you the code, might take a few tries, but it will give you one.

The Communication Satellites are only decoration ( now ).
However, the Planets you find with the satellites are populated :
if they get hit with high value weapons they will send out an attack force.

These Attack Forces will normally not target the Player, being as the Player usually does not throw those kind of weapons around carelessly..but NPC ships do.
The Planets can be helpful to the player .. you just have to be careful not to get in front of their guns.

Why are some of the Planet Attack Forces "Hostile" yet not attack the Player intentionally?
A) they aren't actually built to be Hostile to the player, they are free worlds that simply
are not part of the active system of governments the player normally deals with.

I think some of the planets might still be set to send out a random ship, just ignore them.
they are not interested in the Player, they are simply background activity.

if you are in a system and wrecks suddenly vanish : there is a Planet defending against a an attacker ...I did this for two reasons,
1) so there is not alot of wrecks left over from the Planet attack forces &
2) so the Player is alerted to the battle if they don't actually see / hear it going on. In some cases it might be the only warning the player can get of high value weapons nearby that you might be flying straight into without an otherwise clear warning.

Those station images are totally awesome !

By looking at the immense 1.1MB xml file, I saw that you made custom systems, domina powers, dockscreens, stations and several weapons. There are surprise events scattered around.
It might not be compatible very much with other mods due to the massive overrides, but I think it could be fun to play. :)

1.1 MB ??? I never realized...I just thought the images made it the file so large..:)

The " changes" I made to stock weapons / effects are to "restore abit of sanity to the game" :

I read the term "Vampire Spikes" in the forum and when I saw them I shrieked ! :)
they are huge!!

Anyway, some explosions are over powered / effects eating my cpu or crashing my game -
so I pulled up older game versions and not only did I Nerf the modern stuff I ( almost ) included the Wor-Quen Void Weapon from version 7 ( but resisted ).

I did re-write the older weapons into modern versions, and I was playing it with several Mods being as I simply can't live without a few of my favorites.

I did Boot out the Ultra-light Titanium : If a faction can afford ships en-mass then they should at least have Standard Titanium Armor ( 20 HP ) :
this would also increase the challenge to the not-so-new Player, without over-powering the hostile against the Player.
It would also increase the survival of ships against other NPC factions.

I did adjust a few ship's weapons :
such as restoring the Heliotrope Destroyer ( frigate ) weapon to the Nose of the ship so it doesn't fry it's crew every time it fires one off.

I also adjusted a few other ship weapon positions, including customizing the weapons' positions on the ships I added
( notice I returned a few old ship models too )
I never intentionally make a change to prevent another extension from working with my .xml ..

Midst of Dragons was supposed to be an Adventure but due to the game not giving me help with errors,
I had to make it an extension so I could get that help .....
then decided that without Corporate Command and whatever else others like to play ....
it was boring by itself..so it stayed an extension.

In the .xml I noted the sources of images :
Mr. Ryder stated that he is happy the station is in the extension and looking good. So I really hope everyone like it :)

I mixed up images with some stations to get new images in there

I was Alerted to a glitch in the Sung Slave Camp : I had attempted to fix something but seemed to have made it worse....

Should be fixed now.

*********************************

I will probably return to the Slave Camp again later for the next time I do an .xml : I really don't like the Sung killing slaves just because the player or whom-ever shows up.

But being as the slaves are a different Sov....
it's "complicated" without using a direct steal of the FFAS which I won't do..
so I have to do it the hard way ....bend the universe..:)

Why not just set the slave quarters to the same sovereign(sungSlavers) and make them friendly upon the destruction of the slave camp?

Alternatively, if you'd rather not use noFriendlyFire, you could just set the Sung to view their slaves' sovereign as friendly. No idea why vanilla doesn't do that already, come to think of it.

I re-made weapons that were using effects which were causing issues with my Dinosaur computer's ability to run the game .
I simply Nerfed the effects by restoring some weapons from earlier version and bringing back some things like the weapon catalog
and updating ( modernizing ) a few old weapons that most players would probably not ever get to play with
because of their levels but I thought it was important to return them to game's potential item drops
because I know there are .xml out there that use higher level numbers on systems ( I used to have one and If I did it ----I am sure others have too )
AND because the weapons were important to have in game since George made them in the first place..

This is twice I have been told there are " Custom Domina Powers "
but as far as I know I did not do anything with Domina except alter her stations for the purpose of the extension
( ships & added missions ( The stations that allow you to " Talk " to a Sister) ).

I don't want to accept credit for something I don't remember doing when I am not even sure exactly what the item being talked about is ...

However.......Do Not think that knowing SOMEBODY actually likes my .xml for once does not make me very happy that I actually , finally did not build a total failure :)

I don't remember if I mentioned it, but Midst of Dragons was built on Interior and expanded to fit the modern game.
Interior kept dying because of version updates that totally made it useless ..
Until I finally figured out I had to restore Previous Version .xml / Images in order for to work at all properly ( " Backwards Compatibility " has it's limits )
:)

Finally got a chance to have a look. Excellent. The new graphics are great. The variation from vanilla is fantastic. New mssions, new stations and it looks like it all proceeds towards a bigger mission or story. Name changes. Great. And that's all before Charon.

And I love the colored explosions. Must have a look to see how you did that.

Minor stuff.
A few of the actions in dockscreen don't have a letter highlighted that you can use to initiate that action. Having to use the mouse is a bit distracting.

And a light IAV that I rescued in a destroyer mission wasn't showing any thrust effects.

Nice work (and a lot of it too).
Stupid code. Do what I want, not what I typed in!

Thank you !!!,
to the list :
I am terrible at following instructions
The dockscreens: if I edited / made them - you would be lucky if the letter thing works at all :)
I use my mouse alot - actually broke my scroll on the one I have here, I need to replace it soon.

Thrust Effects : I DID remove some because my computer is old & I know I adjusted others because I wasn't a fan of what they came out of the box with ......
But, yes, if I nixed an effect it wasn't intentional that I left it that way, I probably had an idea for replacing it with something else.

I am Happy your rescue mission was a good one - I have a table of 'warlords' in the .xml that isn't used but was supposed to be part of that mission ( so you could rescue those kinds of ships too ) - but I forgot to add the data to the ships and since I failed to do that I just pulled them off the mission list
