I've found the Mining Laser to be better than turbolasers in recent games, as it can take out stations decently and I can shoot well enough hit at least 95% of the time at maximum fire rate. With a collimator 9-35 spike damage is enough to take out any early game enemy in a couple of hits. :D

For me, it's always been the Fusionfire Howizter, it never needs ammo, is almost as powerful as a Qianlong Archcannon, has a giant bullet, and most of all it NEVER EVER comes back to hit you in the face (looks furiously at XM900 Lucifers).
