Re: Forum theme

Prosilver looks adequate, but I really prefer a dark/neutral background to avoid eyestrain

Sorry, but I have to object to a bright green on black. I've used other forums that tried it and it strains my eyes quite badly.
Shouldn't be too difficult to tone the #bright' green down a bit tho..

https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/style/ne_blackgreen/ https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/style/ne_blackgreen/demo/3.2 That last is really clean & shows off the board style very nicely IMO! ..provided the buggy menu issues with Digi aren't carried over, ofc (although they may become less obtrusive...

Re: Forum theme

OK, IMO: Absolution is clean but visually boring. US is terrible on all levels. Milk has distinct possibilities, especially for highlighting major changes in the top banner (BTW I really hope you don't use that area for constantly streaming ads as Steam does - it's a bandwidth hog & major distractio...

Re: Targeting system changes

I'm unsure if this has been brought up in previous threads (over the years!), but I'm going to say it anyway: If you don't have a targeting ROM upon finishing first Korolov mission stage, that should be the first reward! (if you already have it, a random other beneficial ROM of equivalent 'weight' s...

Re: Endless Sky

I agree that I went too far in the targeting changes. I'll fix that for the next beta. Would it be possible to utilise a combination of soft- & hard-targeting (ie introduce some sort of target lock)? The locked target would receive the majority of player weps fire while soft targets might auto-swit...

Is dmg sustained currently linked to <projectile> health, or is it simplistically using wep/projectile /type/?

Re: Beam physics

Perhaps reserve hitscan weps for PD use only? That would make a certain amount of logical sense WRT range/dmg falloff & their high power use..

BTW is the ICX etc fixed in this later version? ;)

Re: Beam physics

One way to deal with the dodging issue would be to continue treating light-speed weapons as projectiles, but make them invisible to the player until they've traveled a distance equal to the distance between the player and the point where they were fired (at which point they could be detected, and t...

Re: Brexit, North Atlantic Union, and Transcendence Geopolit

Heinlen's /Friday/ (along with a few of his previous works) gives the idea of the result of a collapsed US & what it may devolve into (the forerunner of the NAU?), including a central gvt (& accompanying presidential figurehead) that doesn't have enough power to enforce its policies; police states &...

Re: Solar items increase reactor efficiency instead of refue

Several interesting ideas in this thread. I'll throw in a few of my own: The 'battery' that George mentions should have a finite lifetime/usetime & disappear from the slot once used up. It cannot be recharged, but is available from any suitable (starton, mil, BM, nrg etc but...

Not all (in fact only a few) red targets are needed to be destroyed. Mission guidance (those onscreen arrows) will point you towards the essentials, otherwise unless you're protecting a ship/station they're there for the loot + score Use 'hard' stations (with a lot of defences and/or fighters) as co...

Re: Let's Play Transcendence!

OK, I watched them. I think 2 & 3 are in the wrong order, but other than that they're a good pointer as to how someone who has /zero/ experience with this type of game approaches it :) Why were you ignoring the onscreen hints & arrows? Too much information (to be taken in too fast while learning oth...
