Outdated weblinks

There seems to be a whole set of outdated pages on the web server that are still accessible: http://neurohack.com/transcendence/Forums.html Clicking around on the links on the left still works but has outdated info. I came across these because they are still indexed on Google and came up when I sear...

Re: Expose more information about weapons and armor

Well, I think that hiding information is one part of the game design, considering how it is in NetHack; in NetHack not only you can't find any in-game information about damage output of weapons or anything, you can't even find how much an item weighs! But you can still learn eventually without read...

Well, if that's the game design, I suppose I just have to write it off as agree to strongly disagree with the design. In my opinion, game depth through obscurity is not really a particularly interesting type of game depth, as it's actually shallow (you figure it out by grinding and observing) and si...

Visual armor damage feedback (and also screen resolution)

My computer has a high resolution display (1080p), which means that when you play Transcendence the health display is way down in the lower right corner. In the middle of a heated battle, your eyes are focused on the small box in the middle of the screen that actually shows the game universe, and yo...

Expose more information about weapons and armor

I think a really important improvement the game needs is to expose more information about weapons and armor directly to the player, without requiring him to go online and look for spoilers to find out how things work. It was a total surprise for me to discover that as armor and shields increase in l...

Clearing systems of enemies

Is it possible to clear systems of enemies by killing enemy stations, or is it just my imagination that the number of enemies decreases as you destroy stations? So if all enemy stations are destroyed, are there no more random encounters in that system?

Forum signup

I'm sure you guys have your reasons for doing it this way, but just a piece of feedback, I think it's kind of outrageously difficult to sign up for an account here on this forum. First you have to sign up, and then you have to find the obscure post that states that you have to email George to ask to...

Nice. Out of more curiosity, what's the game say when you save the Antarctica and destroy the Aquilas? Do you make peace with the Ares?

What's the Ares research base's task?

Mission in Heretic

I forget off hand the exact name of the station that gives this mission, I think it's something like Nano Research Corp or something like that, but for the mission that involves attacking the Xenophobe fleet to recover an artifact, I managed to accept this mission even though I already had the missi...

Switching to disabled weapons

It'd be a nice improvement if pressing 'w' would not switch to any weapons that are disabled under the 'b' menu. From a gameplay perspective, it's kinda nice to encourage the player to install more weapons on their ship, since variety makes the game more fun. However, the fact that disabled weapons ...

Ares Research Outpost in Heretic

Out of curiosity, is there anyway to get the Ares Research Outpost in Heretic to cooperate with you? Whenever I stopped by they always greeted me with armed guards and showed me the way out. This is even after I was directed to go there by the Commonwealth station, and also after I saved them from I...

Patch Spider repairs completely busted armor (bug?)

The patch spider works so well that it seems like it's a bug. It's extremely strange that armor that is so damaged a full dry dock cannot repair it presents no problem at all to the patch spider. A piece of armor can be completely destroyed with 0 hit points left, and the patch spider can still fix ...

Enemies with ammo AI problem

Enemies that have only ammo-based weaponry will continue to hang around "attacking" even after they've run out of ammo and are fact just circling the player waiting to get shot and die. Happens a lot with Ranx gunships. Seems like a good solution would be to have enemy ships that have only ammo-base...

Wingmen in Arena possible bug?

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but it seems like one to me. You can bring your wingmen with you into the arena. I had Volkov from Korolov, and then went to the arena. It's tricky maneuvering to get him in, but if you position yourself right while you drift, you can get him into the arena. The...
