George,
I'm sure they'd be happy to hear from you personally, too. A lot of their articles get noticed by software authors who come and talk to people.
I just kind of gushed a bit myself; feel free to join the discussion!

I had another thought while on the subject: if you "plan" for a port to e.g. PSP, once the hard part of getting it ported (e.g., abstracting everything to the level where you can use any platform's underlying architecture) is done, you could probably put it on other similar systems, like the DS or P...

Cross-platform?
George, I'm sure this has been asked before, but exactly how Windows-specific is the Transcendence code? Would it ever run in Linux? I'm specifically thinking of how amazingly awesome it would be as PSP (Playstation Portable) homebrew. I've seen several large open-source projects get ported (notably...

So, the problem is that the "makeblind" routine takes a time parameter, but the "upgradeReactor" (or whatever it's called) routine does not? I mean, obviously that makes sense, but I can see that it would be a problem. Somebody mentioned seeing "ticks" in something related to the Sisters of Domina.....

Can you mod your own autons? I'd love to see a "scavenger" auton that "eats" wrecks and gives you some (small) amount of creds in return. Perhaps a modded mule that docks with wrecks, loots them, then destroys them? When it's full, it can come pester you (e.g. stay really close to you) until you get...

My solution to this is to have one mule with my "important" stuff, and I just don't loot that one. Two points this brings up: one, can I name my autons, when I have e.g. 3 mules? Two, I've found that there's not many auton dealers towards the end game, and nobody ever seems to drop mules. I really l...

F50: that brings up another pet peeve -- view distance. I'd really love to be able to see further away. AFAIK, by the time a Slaver shows up on my screen, I'm in cyberattack range. Sure, I can constantly do a paranoid cycle through targets in scanner range, but that's no way to live. Maybe a warning...

I think this would be a good time to reiterate that disable/scramble attacks, which are unblockable, and cannot be ameliorated in any way by the player, are pretty annoying in their current form. It's like somebody has a nuclear shotgun -- you might get insta-gibbed, and then again you might not. I ...

I think that the simplest, most straight-forward implementation of an item that lets you get away with extra reactor drain for a little while would be once-off "batteries" that you use to boost output. Say for 100-1000+ creds, you can buy a battery that increases your reactor output by 20-500 (perha...

He wants a "smart" turret. I think the best thing for it would be to have something like an "AutoFire=true" tag available for modders, that lets a weapon shoot automatically if it's got a vaild target. There's a number of issues with the implementation, not least of which is what you do if your targ...
