time
Ah, OddBob, but is time to scale as well? Keep in mind that the ships dart around from planet to planet in what seems like seconds. Either they are going insanely fast (and using incredible amounts of energy), or the time-scale in the game is significantly increased, making it far easier to dodge th...

wine and transcendence
SparcMan is correct; the only substantial hitch is that the program he links to has the same problem as the main Transcendence program, and can't access the database to extract the files under Wine. So run it under Windows (if you're the dual-booting type) and then move the files to whatever Linux d...

slavers
One thing I've wondered is what, exactly, all these slaves are being used for... With all of these high-powered and incredible technologies that the Sung have access to, it seems a bit strange that they would resort to meagre flesh to man the salt mines. Maybe there's some kind of soul-extracting de...

branches
Branches sounds like a great idea... An excellent way to provide 'side-quests' or alternate 'feels' for different parts of the game. (And what would Nethack be without the Gnomish Mines and the Quest levels, after all?) I definitely like the idea of lessening the linearity of the game. If I were an ...

0.96a howto
So the Resource Files workaround seems to be running just fine. Here's a step-by-step to get the game running: 1) Download the Resource Files at http://neurohack.com/downloads/TranscendenceResources.zip . As of this writing, these seem to be for the 0.95 version of the game, and need a little tweaki...

archived versions
Also, someone a month ago suggested collecting older versions of the game in a central place (such as the Mods site). Was any progress made on this? If not, I have some university space where I could put them up.
If anyone has a copy of 0.95 I could play with, please email me.
Thanks,
-kaibutsu

version 0.96a and Wine (Linux)
Hello; I'm experimenting with getting 0.96a working under Wine. Previous versions have worked resonably well for me, with just a few random crashes, but 0.96a gives an error message on startup to the effect of 'cannot find shieldsHUD.bmp'. Someone suggested getting the resource files, which were mad...
