Topic: What sort of amoral behavior does this game encourage?

As far as I understood it, this topic is about how the game encourages immoral behavior ingame.

I'm quite sure no one here mistakes the game for reality, at least I hope so.

Back to topic: I agree that I wouldn't turn mining into a combat part. The sense is earning money without combat I guess. I would also not implement a minigame since this does get very boring in the long run (anyone knows FreeDroid?) I suggest to have some kind of upgrade system. First you have to m...

You got the point here. I did not say that I would morally justify the "excessive self-defense" path. There is just no "need" to actively exploit every chance to violence as statet in the post above. And seeking "self-defense" situations is of course not better than just shooting first. No reaonable...

Actually, I never even thought of the possibilty, that they are not the hero's family. But right, this is not a mandatory interpretation.

Still, the "promise to Domina" part remains.

I think the game does acctually not encpurage amoral behavious. 1.) Black market, slave selling and similar stuff is profitable. So what? It is more work to mine a whole system then to sell slaves but isn't that the point in crimnal activities? They are more profitable bu tamoral. Gererally the more...

In 1.01, I there was a omnidirectional particle cannon for sale in 2nd or 3rd system. Of course too expensive and too much energy train and I didn't play this game much further but still ...

As a game mechanic, calling the player to the core serves to give a vague purpose. You'll notice that although in the storyline, the player is compelled to go, there actually aren't any obvious points where the player doesn't have free will. For example, I don't plan on ever having a cut scene that...

Sure, you can justify any action in accordance with the main plot. I would just prefer if I had an actual in-game-choice on the motivation of the player character to make the story and the universe deeper and force the player to give actual thought if an action fits the role the character performs. ...

That's a point that could also be implemented via factions. A pirate should not be able to join the militia. There is a whole lot of possibilities here, e.g. which faction is able to trade with which stations and so on. Problematic in balancing, though. But back to topic: The point is that even thou...

Religion in Transcendence

Ok, I saw that I accidentally resurrected a very old topic so I thought I'll better start a new one instead. I refer to this quote fromt he old topic: george moromisato wrote: [...] I don't think Transcendence says anything controvertial about religion (either to religious people or to atheists). I'...

It is possible to earn money without having a weapon. Some simple trading between the first few stations or systems can earn you enough money to buy a new weapon. If enemies attack you should run, however. Fast. PS: I already tried to play the game without any weapon to see if it is possible. I wasn...

I installed a Class III Deflector with the starting engine of the Sapphire and wondered about my fuel running low. I desperately tried to mine ore for the money to refuel butr an out of fuel docked to the Rigel Dry Dock. Some maths help sometimes. Edit: Now I rmeember correctly: I DID have money but...

Hi! I'm new in the forums, so I guess I can as well start posting on this topic. Until now I wasn't any farther than some systems behind St. Kathrin's Star, so my post relates to early game. I found that I never use the Solon Shield since I like mining and the only early mining device is a laser. I ...
