strafing/reverse thrusters

Ships could use more options on how to control where they are going. Adding in left/right strafing as an option to use instead of turning is good.
Reverse thrusters would be useful as well.

1) Stations should never sell things that are not identified - why would anyone buy something for say 100000 creds if they didnt even know what it did?
2) code to make things unknown should only be applied to items gotten as loot

Updated at 5 dl:
Created an Illwrath cloaking device and equiped it on the starter sapphire yacht.

It makes all factions neutral and turns the ship very dark to mimic the cloak effect.

i am trying to make a device that temporarily makes you neutral to everyone, but the temporary part is the problem - i cant seem to get the device to revert back to the old faction standings.
help would be appreciated.

sustain field

It looks like as though the sustain field when a missile hits it, it does not get destroyed on the surface of the field - it continues on to the ship. Would be better i think if it stopped at the field instead.

i am trying to get my weapon to add an item, and remove it after a certain amount of time has passed.

would need to somehow make autons orbit your ship and shoot lightning weapons/not be hit by your weapons.

tractor beam moving barricade

Barricades which surround the ship and move as you move by being controlled by a tractor beam. Would need to code so you shoot past them of course. Think a mobile fortress.

another idea is apply an effect to weapons that would make the weapon decay the resistances of the enemy armor progressively with each hit.
