Re: Frontier Download Link
Some things I've noticed so far: - Systems are fundamentally unique, and play differently. My second system was described as a mining area, and was populated by a ton of illegal miners that fled upon encountering me, allowing me to loot everything they couldn't take with them. Of course, I chased th...

Frontier Download Link
Because all direct links to it have long since died, I made this thread to link the .zip of Frontier.

Re: Some Questions
Is there a way to link the Steam account and the Multiverse? I don't believe so. What exactly do you want to transfer from one to the other? The ability to play the Multiverse-only extensions such as the VotG beta and Project Renegade mostly. I think that capability will get added to Steam fairly s...

Re: Some Questions
It does not feel like it, despite stopping Luminous being required to win the Eternity Port dungeon crawl. After the first system and Sirius, Luminous/Morning Star/Lilith fade into the background, barely visible (appearing once in a blue moon) until Failsafe appears around endgame, when your part o...

Re: Some Questions
There's a full campaign dealing with Luminous. It isn't as well paced as the other campaigns, but Luminous is definitely built up over the course of the game.with Luminous being the last-minute Giant Space Flea from Nowhere you mostly deal with after finishing with Earth powers.

Re: Looking for ship build out suggestions
I took levels from the wiki, so it may be a bit outdated, but I like the idea of randomizing some of the features but building towards clear themes. EI500 Level 4 * 100 MW reactor * Quad titanium barricade * Ceratops 1T quasi-armor * RK15 turret, OTL * + patcher arm OR miners' cargo bay upgrade OR r...

Kudos to the Corsair I that somehow made it to CC endgame space. That's one determined pirate.

Re: list splitting ship finding query
I agree that sorting by sovereign would be unintuitive, especially for ships that appear as both friendlies and enemies. Setting up a standard alphabetically sorted list on ships' display names seems like the best way to handle this. If you want to reduce list size, splitting it into A-M and N-Z wou...

Re: Erosion on Mars has uncovered large subterranean ice
Very interesting. Terraforming Mars is definitely a ways away, but this makes it a bit more feasible.

Re: 2017 Annual Report
The problem with heavy weaponry is that it's inherently better against smaller craft as well. That's not the case. Faster firing weapons, and weapons with faster projectiles, are significantly harder to avoid. While heavy weaponry in the game's current iteration is incredibly OP, there's nothing in...

Re: 2017 Annual Report
It's true you could make ship equipment scale in size and power appropriately with ship size, but that would just force the player to switch to a very slow ship in order to be able to fight capital ships. I'm not saying restrict all powerful equipment to heavy ships, I'm saying to make sure that ar...

Re: 2017 Annual Report
The issue is that gameplay revolves around gunships being able to destroy battleships. It's based off of Star Control, where ships are qualitatively extremely different but functionally capable of fighting each other on even ground. The issue here is that ships aren't qualitatively different enough....

Re: Some questions about engine capabilities
1. Any plans of moving away from sprite based? Is it even possible? I doubt it, given that we get these sprites from 3D models. There was a mod with vector images, but they were premade in a vector image editor, and were completely 2D. 2. Is it possible to add the zoom feature used on the star maps...
