Re: Transcendence OpenGL builds

In any case, OpenGL creates a better opportunity to make Transcendence cross platform.
Even if still relying on Wine to run Transcendence on Linux, it will be more performant because what Wine does is taking the DirectX code and transcoding it to OpenGL. That step is no longer necessary.

Re: Project Renegade patch for 1.9b3

Well relanat, Renegade has its own Ministry entry, you could start there. You have already solved one of the bugs (the game does not start).
Some of those bugs you reported yourself, go have a stab at it i would say. Your coding skills have grown seriously since you made those posts....

I prefer to use Bluefish editor for coding. Very versatile, many options, supports most coding/scripting languages with syntax highlighting out of the box...

Re: Why won't Renegade appear?

For me it just appears in the list of extensions. I can select it and when I start a game it crashes after the ship selection on creation of the Renegade systems. So I leave it disabled. :( It really is a good mod with excellent design, and superb ships. Innovative weapons and other items and needin...

Re: steam vs multiverse downloading

Transcendence works fine with Wine. So should also work with Proton.
However I think sending George a Personal Message should work to get you a multiverse ID so you can play Transcendence on Linux without Steam.

Re: Pilgrimage 2020 so far

Nice story, well done.

When using the gem Helios gave you, the best thing you can do is immediately use the restore power of Domina. After that you can toast everything in sight with ease.

Oh, about that damaged patch spider, do not use it!

It does not repair your armor, it only drains your fuel.

Re: Pilgrimage 2020 so far

Well, nice report of your progress. Too bad you did not see the potential of the Ion9. I have been using it often and it is very good against incoming missiles (defensive), it wipes out swarms of any kind (dwarg, ares, sung) And it is a shield buster, capital ships like Phobos loose their shield aga...

Re: I want to talk about the direction of gameplay. I don't feel it is good.

I agree, Strongholds are a pain now. But the excavation pods do have a use now! I have corporate command and the top of the line Burak 600 missiles do also work against the stronghold. But yes many are required (about twenty or so) Had some fun with class C pods. Not only one shot the stronghold, bu...

Re: I want to talk about the direction of gameplay. I don't feel it is good.

About WMD... Recently discovered that Marauder strongholds take this to the next level by requiring mining damage for significant damage. WMD alone does not work against them. Given how late they appear, the only standard weapon with enough oomph to hurt them is the plasma torch. However, they are ...

On the other hand, I often find myself is the situation upon reaching the outer realm that my monetary needs are trivial. Even without exploiting devices like the nanofac.
