I think of it more like rewarding faster play and punishing player's who take advantage of a very generous enemy creation algorithm. That's exactly the problem, you're talking about punishing the player! That's no way to run any kind of successful game, they're supposed to be fun, not work. If the ...

Okay, so it's a diffuse plasma. In practical terms, it's the same thing - mere thousands of atoms per cubic meter will have no effect on the temperature of solid metal whether they're nearer 0 or 1,000,000K. (And since most of the loose atoms in a solar system are pouring out of the sun, they ain't ...

Do you have any other ideas on how to get rid of heat? In gameplay terms, I'd assume that fuel rods include the necessary coolants, to be ejected via the drive exhaust, and when the reactor is running well below maximum output (Which is most of the time outside of combat) it has spare cooling capac...

Okay, I have grep. Now I can do this properly. Events in TranscendenceSource: <OnBountyHunterCheck> <OnCheckRevenge> <OnConstruction> <OnCreate> <OnDestroy> <OnInit> <OnObjDestroyed> <OnObjDocked> <OnObjEnteredGate> <OnObjJumped> <OnObjReconned> <OnOrderChanged> <OnRefuel> <OnShieldDown> <OnShow> <O...

Quite so. I suspect that, given some fairly standard events to hang scripts on, the modding crowd could build hundreds of cool new items. Look what's been done already just by messing about with the standard item classes. Actually, thinking more on this, all we really really need is some kind of tim...

From where, just maybe, you could pick up a different class of ship. Hey, we can dream.. 8) Personally, I don't really see the need to retain your ship and equipment. We already have more money and loot stashes than we know what to do with in most successful plays, if it could be used to equip a new...

the heat pump is a common thing (a refrigerator is a heat pump) plus has the advantage of being able to work in reverse (in cases where you are losing more heat then generating, can happen if costing in the outer system) I doubt you'd need a huge amount of detail on the specifics, really. Just give...

I see from Yugimotomanager's mod work that there are also a lot of events available to attach scripts to, such as the (OnRefuel) used by his reactors. Is there a list of these somewhere, or a good place to search for them in the source?

Classless Items?

Is there any kind of generic item class in Transcendence that doesn't have any hard-coded stats, effects or abilities, but just sits there and waits for a particular event or condition such as a keypress, timer, or change in ship stats, then runs some script code? If not, can we have one? Please! *s...

losing heat wouldn't be hard with ammo weapons. Just use some kind of heat pump (you even have one in your house :D) to transfer heat into the ammo because you are going to fire it anyway so that would be an nice way of getting rid of heat. Interesting idea - we'd need a physics major to comment on...

Actually, a general heat management system would make for an interesting expansion to game mechanics.. Heat shielding, heatsink upgrades, cheaper powerful reactors and weapons that increase your heat issues, weapons that cause more heat than direct damage to the target, and of course the local sun. ...

I see fundamental problems with that template.. It's a fixed size, so it'll be impossible to use on an undersized display, and bordered by tons of useless wasted white space on an oversized one. That misses the whole point of web pages right there. It's taller than it is wide, where basically everyo...

The Holy Thom's Mod Site - Dead?

Okay, so I have a couple of mods basically complete, now I need somewhere to put them. I was expecting to dump things into the site listed on the main Transcendence pages, but I see it's been inactive since the start of April.. Thom's still around, though, so what's going on there? Have you guys all...

So each modder has a single 'All My Stuff' thread which they bounce back to the top of the forum when they announce a new addition? That sounds kinda messy.. Don't they fill up with jumbled discussions about different mods, or make specific items and ship packs hard to find in the forum?

I thought seperate threads for feedback (If any) would be tidier. What's the etiquette for releasing mod files here, then? I haven't actually seen a release since I arrived.
