I'm all for this idea. What might help is some highly commented missions built as templates - something like 10 example missions that are each unique. With some engine side modifications, we could probably write an xml file at the end of part 1 that functions like an optional extension for part 2. Cool stargate effect in after effects
Just playing around in after effects and came up with this. It's a pretty simple effect (CC Ball action + echo). Just dropping this here because it would kick ass as a trailer.

If you get a high enough fleet rank, find the CSC Terra and you'll get the mission to hunt down the CSC Antarctica from Admiral Decker.

I think long-term we should consider a group that can repair or maintain obsolete mods, making just enough changes to make it playable again. This could be done to keep very old mods playable and compatible with newer extensions, as an alternative to just taking the entry off the catalog completely....
