Re: "Boring" (high defense, low offense) enemies
The main problem is the range at which that proximity trigger will detonate on a glancing hit. The current algorithm seems to sometimes detonate too soon, or too late....or just too far away. It's a very difficult thing to fix though. Being able to tweak that proximity radius would definitely help ...

Re: [1.5] Transcendence Debug Mode/Corporate Command Bug
I think you can't use debug mode in registered games to prevent cheating your way into the high scores.
The problem with the mission sounds like a bug though.

Re: Any tricks to get cheap fuel in Eternity Port
The early game in Eternity Port does seem harder than Stars of the Pilgrim. The upside is that most early stations in EP have missions and they pay better than missions in SotP. Very few early game enemies have fuel, so refuel at stations whenever possible. Upgrading your reactor makes it easier to ...

Re: Space backgrounds
I definitely like that screenshot better. The glare and the background seem more like separate light sources. Was there an engine change between them or is it just a different background and amount of glare?

Re: Purchasing items via dock services and filtering items
I think I'll still prefer the purchase items system, but improving both of them sounds excellent. Does that mean you'll add the armory back to Commonwealth Fortresses and add a purchase items option to the stations that don't have it? (Off the top of my head that includes Polyarny Shipyards, CSCs, a...

Re: Space backgrounds
Cool. I like how light is blocked by the asteroids, will this also occur with stations? I don't. What are they casting shadows on ? For there to be less light coming from those regions, the light coming from the brighter areas would have to be reflected light from the local star. But it's not - it'...

Purchasing items via dock services and filtering items
Based on these Ministry items: Hide installable items from commodities exchange and Without military ID, Commonwealth fortresses let you into dock service screen, but offer no services , George is making the dock services screen the default way to purchase ship equipment. In Eternity Port, there are...

Re: "Boring" (high defense, low offense) enemies
This is, more or less, what actually happens. It's a bit temperamental though. In addition, that system by itself proved very buggy in the past....back in 0.99C (and earlier), a proximity weapon would not detonate on a direct hit, as it would always wait to pass the closest hostile within detonatio...

Re: "Boring" (high defense, low offense) enemies
I think I've come up with a good solution to the WMD issue: change WMD damage against compartments from a divisor to a bonus. Non-WMD weapons would do their raw damage to compartments. This eliminates the need for rounding up to 1 and the difference between fast firing, low damage weapons and slow f...

Re: "Boring" (high defense, low offense) enemies
Just checked the code, and I don't think the kiloton cannon has CanHitSource...so it's just that the gun isn't all that good. Unless that bug is more odd than I'd thought. This is worth investigating, perhaps. It's one of those very very old guns that used to be obscenely good (from memory, it was ...

"Boring" (high defense, low offense) enemies
As George posted here , enemies that are tough to kill but not very threatening are just boring and tedious to fight. I think a few enemies currently fall into this category. Drake-class Missileship: This one's borderline. In the early game they're reasonably threatening, making them closer to minib...

Re: Transcendence speedrunning
That is some astonishing luck. Too bad it wasn't recorded. I'd like to speedrun a more recent version for full screen and music, but I can't imagine how many attempts it would take to get something like that to happen. I guess it would be workable if I went back to the idea of a segmented run (with ...

Re: Transcendence speedrunning
It takes me less than 3 minutes on average to get to St K's, but that's at speedrunning speed. My best run places me in Heretic at just under 5 minutes. That's really fast. What version is that on, and what's your best time for actually completing the game? I set a new record recently (on version 1...
