A simple modification to the XML can be made. The only problem is you would have to either find someone who has made a server, or make your own, which isn't hard at all. How about an OnStar like thing? like you could get them to send a corporate cruiser or something to get you out of trouble, or give you co-ordinates to the nearest station of a certain type.

Most, if not all, names in the game have some sort of historic or astronomical influence. Eridani is named after the constellation, Eridanus.
