Dark matter weapons?
Just idle speculation. I had always assumed that the dark acid, dark steel, dark lightning, and dark fire damage types were for some sort of dark matter weapons that George had envisioned. But maybe they are just weird alien weapons from a different universe. Or ghost weapons. Or weapons used exclus...

Re: Some stuff I've done
Glad you like them. I know planets aren't usually high on the todo list for modders so feel free to mess around with them.

Re: Some stuff I've done
Glad someone liked it. It just never worked for me. Tell me if you need a different size for PSD6. I think I still have the png somewhere.

Some stuff I've done
Just in case you don't regularly check Xelerus, I have some new mods up. http://xelerus.de/index.php?s=mod&id=1189 78 planets and 7 stars. And, yes, many of them have a black shadow. http://xelerus.de/index.php?s=mod&id=1190 Double reactors. Double the power, double the fun. http://xelerus.de/index....

Re: Blue shadows on planets
I usually render with at least two lights as well. And I absolutely agree with you about the black for items, ships, forums, and San Francisco streets. But for planets I have to disagree. Space is extreme. Extreme temperatures, extreme radiation, and, yes, extreme darkness. One look at the night sky...

Re: Blue shadows on planets
I can't help but feel that changing the game code is somehow cheating . Seriously though, thank you George.

Re: 1.08e
Alright. Immediately noticed a bug in the loading screen with radiation. An irradiated ship gets a nice glowing green box around them.
At least I think it's a bug. Unless it's a new feature, as I also see the radiation overlay has changed.

Re: Blue shadows on planets
Yeah... now that it's not so late at night I realized that. Here's the 1-bit mask http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/2076/worlds182noatmomask1bit.png And here's the 8-bit http://img859.imageshack.us/img859/8648/worlds182noatmomask.png Which, apparently, imageshack decided to convert to a .png

Re: Blue shadows on planets
Alright, I was wrong. That almost fixed it. With an 8-bit mask the planets look great except on the map. On the map and the radar, the shadow is rendered as transparent, giving an odd half-planet look especially around asteroids. I took Atarlost's suggestion and re-colored the shadow, but apparently...

Re: Blue shadows on planets
As opposed to a 1-bit mask? 'Cause that's what I'm using now. I didn't think that the bmp mask affected color. I mean, several of the stock planets have a nice black shadow (ie ringed planets) and they use 1-bit masks.
