Re: Balance issues in RC1 [spoily]

Thanks for starting this thread, Atarlost. I always value your insights on balance. 1. It is possible to destroy the nest before a warrior can spawn. Right now, the nest only reacts if the player destroys a certain number of miners. I think we should also spawn a warrior if the player attacks the n...

How they know to install and sell alien tech that they don't know much about: 1. Its an engine. We disected it and couldn't figure out what it was. We did find the power intake, so we conected it. It went right through the station wall and vented us into space. Yes, we're ringers, we can survive tha...

Re: Mid/late game balance

1. Systems after St. Kat's get deadly too quickly. Maybe we need to tone down some of the initial Sung bases. As others have said, things getting more dangerous is a good thing. The sung are not a problem, its the dwarg that are tough. Personally though, I don't have problems with the barbary. Anno...

Docx is evil, but not as bad as the ancient (and evil) .wps format...yurgh. At least openoffice can read docx.

A friend of mine sent me a .wps file once. Couldn't read it for the life of me.

I've recently ran across Tremulous, an open-source FPS. It is an asymmetric game humans vs aliens. The humans have long-range guns (what a shock), while the aliens have maneuverability and melee attacks.

If its name is prefixed with "obj" such as "objIncVel", "objGetRefData", "objSetObjRefData", etc. then it works with all objects. This means ships, stations, planets, asteroids...Only a few of them won't work for stars.

as that would probably eat up resources. I don't think so. You will be docked at the time so the rest of the world is going at a fraction of the speed and if it only slows down the system you may not even notice. It certainly isn't as CPU intensive as the dwarg raiders. Every raider goes through al...

I really enjoyed portal. Completely beat it, achievements and all. I think I'll give Narbacular drop a try after final exams are done. Desktop Tower Defense. Its an online flash tower defense game(at least, I think its flash, not too sure about that). The nice thing about this one is that you can cr...

Why not simply have the value of an item in the adjacent systems factor in to the value of an item in this system. This will make the player have to treck across two systems. Shipping goods two systems across is dangerous (for some ships) and takes time. Time=cash. If the time used is long enough to...
