Me too.. although I suspect I was searching for free, non-MMO (ie standalone) at the time; it may have been linked from a Nethack page

IIRC my earliest experience was with v0.94.. then with 0.96 and counting..

Every time (only about 3 so far, sorry) he's started off at approximately 180deg from the target direction. No problem with it looking like a Beaufighter; however the only image I can see from that link looks a little lopsided..

At least it didn't look like a Swordfish... now that may be an idea :)

Skins should take care of prettyfying if that's all you want..

FWIW I've seen this too in previous incarnations of the games; whether it's changed now I've no idea (I haven't been able to concentrate for long enough to play the new version as much as I'd like)
