now, Im not getting that error on logging in anymore - the game simply crashes completely

This version does not play well with extensions at all.
Stock ships gets visually gimped due to the awesome new graphics.
All the encounter expansions and TX2 are randomly crashy, and DBG's salvagers are instant error material.
The "detonate wrecks" mod seems to have become invisible to the game.
Also the new smoke effects from damaged ships looks beyond brilliant on the demo screen, but doesn't seem to appear anywhere in game. (Granted I've only managed to get about three systems in before I get thrown back to the desktop
)

TX2 is an ancient mod that I nolonger support (basically it was three iterations ago of TSB) - its not surprising its broken in the time since.

Still, this version at least partially breaks many big mods, for starters: WE's planet names does not work anymore, DySys's shooting-through-planet thingy does not work too. I think this is because the planets are reworked in some way(changed the unids or something?) Elysium and Huaramarca seems to be changed too, as many topology-changing mods like The Network (repaired or not) doesn't work.

Yes, look at my avatar, I have a wyvera type ship.
The speed bug in the beta may be related to a similar bug in previous versions. Before the 1.2 beta, you needed four sources of speed to get the speed bug (not possible in standard). Now, it only requires the first source. Additional sources of speed beyond the first work normally in the beta, after the first source broke your weapon beyond belief.
