[12:15] <bmbl> So now with more users I have this unknown rhomboid-shaped device
[12:15] <bmbl> I installed it and it is still a rhomboid-shaped device (noone knows what it does...)
[12:15] <bmbl> Is that a bug or may this be correct?
[12:15] <Gambit-> it's a whoopy cushion.
[12:15] <Schilcote> Really?
2) Difficulty curve definitely feels lower on the starter systems.
3) Wow! I fear the Krono, now! Excellent job buffing that thing.

Saving a game and reentering is met with severe loading times, generally between 5-15 seconds. I keep thinking that the game is crashing, when it isn't.

Yeah, this is a pretty large issue that everyone is encountering. If it can't be sped up (maybe because of a new save-file file structure being used), then perhaps a loading message/bar can be added?
Especially bad for me, since for some reason, I've been getting intermittent lockups the last couple days due to a corrupt file I havn't gotten around to fixing, and the only way of freeing the computer is to do a hard restart...
And I restarted it already during a particularly long gate-in time...

I have also had this....and I'd quite like to know what I've just put on my ship.
I have yet to savor the delights of this new version....because I've had simply AWFUL luck on all of my three attempts. The difficulty curve may be nicer, but I've been unable to get even slightly decent stuff....
Ah well...next time....
But I'm quite liking the RK15 Partisan omni-weapon.......it goes quite well with a Solon shield until blast enemies start turning up. And St. Ks is quite pretty now, if a little confusing right now (So. Many. OPTIONS!! )...
And the first contact memorial is really pretty!
..Looking forward to endgame, once I get a decent playthough that'll actually let me get that far.....
But I haven't even got to the krono yet.....and I just let Korolov die in Charon......because I couldn't get nice weapons..or shields.....or armor....or any spare fuel....or credits...or....well..anything....*sob*
And my first playthrough attempt, on the Wolfen....the first thing I bought was a ROM, hoping it'd be something nice....it was a defective weapons ROM. That kinda set the tone....second time, the game crashed the first time I tried to use "Sustain" to survive my awful shield going down and my rubbish armor going in a few shots....and the third time, I'm stuck with RK15 and Solon....against slam cannons, Corsair IIs and Urak howitzers....
WHY!!!WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!*cry*
But the changes I've seen in the menu are quite nice...
(Standard prcedure for me, watch the menu creen, and see what enemies I need to be really really scared of. Or...some of them at least.)
A question to those that have got that far: Has the Sung Transport just gained a Shuriken, or is it just an increased fire-rate on the old party-beam?
I love the new ships and stations, St Katherines looks and feels like a thriving Metropolis now. The Gladiator arena is soo much fun.
It seems like all the systems are much more full now. More enemies, more friendlies. There's much more to do everywhere.
I really like that devices aren't known until they are 'used'. It helps drain the credits.
I'm currently on my 3rd attempted play through and have made it just past St. Ks.
First playthrough:
Ship: Freighter
Managed to buy mining equipment and cleaned out Eridani.
Used all that money to buy 4 light Worldship armors and a short range blast weapon.
Pwnd everything
Entered Rigel Aurelius Gladiator Arena.
Due to my near invincibility, I got poor rep from the fights, I fought everyone I could.
The Gladiator opponent list was reduced to Nil (empty list?) but still displayed as an opponent. I accepted and was now in a gladiator match against nothing. I could not cancel the fight and ended up stuck in the arena.
- Game over
Thoughts: Besides the bug, could have been a great game. I'm planing on making a bug ticket once my account is validated.
Second Playthrough:
Ship: Wolfen
This was a fairly poor playthrough with no interesting highlights. I seemed to have very poor luck finding and decent loot. I managed to scroung up enough for a 25mW reactor and a decent shield. With very little money and heliotropes and Uraks Pwning me and my dual turbo laser I was easily defeated.
Thoughts: I made some bad decisions and squandered my tiny fortune. The buffed up enemies surpised me and I wasn't properly prepared.
Third Playthrough:
Ship: Freighter
Some good luck gave me an agricultural station in Eridani to trade for some easy credits and I looted a 50mW reactor in the second system.
Used a tinker to make some Ceralloy armor, bought a decent shield and had plenty of credits to buy a dual flenser and a Mag launcher.
Made a brief foray in the Gladiator arena (there's a small "Trick" to improving the crowds response easily, hehehe)
Entered charon and watched helplessly as Korolov was decimated utterly.
Traded in St. K's turning 30K into almost 60K, and am now looking for a some upgrades.
Thoughts: Shaping up to be excellent!
Coming soon: The Syrtian War adventure mod! A Turret defense genre mod exploring the worst era in Earth's history.
Can you defend the Earth from the Syrtian invaders?
Stay tuned for updates!
Last time I actually played Transcendence in earnest was when it was version 97b. I'm trying the RC now, and I like it.
I'm on my first playthrough, with the sapphire. I spent every credit available to get my hands on a Monopole. It was far more than worth it, because a Centauri shooting me has the same effect as me shooting the Iocrym with an unenhanced ion blinder, my health goes down 1 point and then comes back up before he can fire again. So yeah, looking pretty good in Eradani. My only complaint is that ships and stations do not drop enough loot. For this, I suggest a dynamic resupply system similar to the one Valve put in HL2:EP2. The less health you have, the more medkits/grub-nuggets restore. I was thinking that if your credits were low, the game could just load the dice in your favor a little bit and make enemies drop more stuff.
[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad

strange, I don't have this problem(1-2 seconds), but the first time I used sustain the game crashed.
I noticed some damage display runoff on my second trip to the arena(haven't gotten much farther yet), see worldship armor in the picture below. perhaps replace "immune" with "-" or "∞" full here
It seems the more stuff in a system and the more you've explored it, the longer it takes to load. When you enter a new unexplored system, it loads almost instantly.
I had some strangeness with the sound also. Like all sound effects were from far away until you approach an enemy station or something. Almost like the "where I am" for the sound effects got attached to another ship or station if that makes sense.

I can gate into a new system, gate back, and then gate back into that 'new' system, and it still takes long to load!
