Well this was frustrating ...
I was playing 1.9 a moment ago and had just arrived in the system with the Rasiermesser manufacturing plant. I turned in a number of items for research, and it dawned on me that a number of wrecks in the system had broken Rasiermesser weapons and that I had never used the "repair" feature of the plant. I gathered up two broken weapons and took them to the plant to repair. The first one repaired just fine. When I tried to repair the second weapon though, the game window just closed. When I relaunched the game and tried to get back in, I discovered that my character was listed as having died, and since I play on permadeath, that's basically the end of the game.
It doesn't say how I died. It just says I died. Normally, the stats of a completed game has a Fate category that lists what your fate was and how you were killed. The fate is missing on my last character. I'm just mysteriously dead for unknown reasons.

It's not unusual to be killed When a station is "under attack" while docked ( the hostiles are usually chasing after YOU, not the station, the defenders or the station, if armed, will respond ) the resulting explosions or Debris can damage or destroy the player ship.rhuber wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 10:17 pmWell this was frustrating ...

I , personally have died several times in the recent version from explosions, But I usually see it coming

However, I do play with Insurance - rarely ever need it but I like knowing I can have it when using the Freighter.

That should still give a cause of death when you look into it, though. The fact that it doesn’t means that something somewhere most likely went wrong. This is the sort of thing I would recommend posting a bug report on to Ministry, preferably attaching the save to the ticket.shanejfilomena wrote:It's not unusual to be killed When a station is "under attack" while docked ( the hostiles are usually chasing after YOU, not the station, the defenders or the station, if armed, will respond ) the resulting explosions or Debris can damage or destroy the player ship.

Most likely the game crashed (could be due to another process). That should be mentioned in the debug.log of your game. Have you looked at that?rhuber wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 10:17 pmWell this was frustrating ...

One of the advantages of playing on Linux is that Wine lets you know when the application has crashed, while on Windows it often happens without being noticed.

I have NearStarsConnector.tdb' but seem to be lacking NearStarsVol01.tdb in my collection folder. How do I get that?
When I go to Stars of the Pilgrim, I can see the checkbox to add Near Stars, but it's greyed out and unclickable.

Some things that might help:DaveNewton wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 9:41 pmI have NearStarsConnector.tdb' but seem to be lacking NearStarsVol01.tdb in my collection folder. How do I get that?
NearStarsVol01.tdb is part of the Eternity Port (EP) expansion so you'll need to buy that if you haven't already. EP contains two files, EternityPort.tdb and NearStarsVol01.tdb.
NearStarsVol01.tdb should be in the Collection folder if you already have EP.
Also, check your Mod Collection and make sure the EP mod is enabled for download. There is a bit of a glitch where if you disable downloading of a mod then it won't appear in the mod selection screen (note to self, add a Ministry ticket about this).
Stupid code. Do what I want, not what I typed in!

Oh, george has switched to doing semantic versioning? This is great! We do need a proper system for actually saying when new patch versions come out though (ex, 1.9.1 or 1.9.2 vs 1.9), either new threads, or having a bot do it.
