ion reflecting mammoth 100MW, IM90 and any secondary weapon you can find (normally I use MAG because they are cheap and easy to find/stock a lot of them)

To take down a Phobos,
I use the scrable cube, and a lamplighter.
Its a bit slow, but it works. Adn if your doing it on a mission, the wingmen help some times.

I have never felt positron damage to be a problem. 2-3 positron cannons hardly make a dent in the shield I am usually using (forget which that is, been a while since I've played Transcendence, currently working through Gnomish Wizards in ADOM). It doesn't make that much effect on your ion reflect. Sure you aren't immune to all of it but most of it really doesn't do much. Ion reflect does degrade, but what I would like it to do is remove 1 hp per shot that reflects, that way you don't have immunity even if the sovereign that you are fighting only or primarily uses one damage type.

it can deal 30 points a shot. i've seen my veil collapse to positrion damage assualting a commune.
Use the kaidun sheild.. wait.. that's what the phoebos has... anyway, i defeated my second phoebos with the kaidun. Awesome shield. 800 HP, decent defenses, terrible recharge rate. Basically a super mammoth. i died to my first phoebos but had insurance. was using a taikon 200 w/ no reflect and im-90 +150 and 4 plates of thermo resist octocarbide. i think ion-resist heavy ithalium might have been better, but there was only one plate my entire game. more praise to the kaidun shield though. that thing has never dropped on me after getting it. EVER.

2- how do I enhance a weapon to +150???

kaidun is stupidly hard to find (I once killed 20 phobos trying to get that shield and the plasma cannon and got neither in one peice, alwayse damaged) 
oh well, mammoth100 w/ ion reflect is certainly good enough.

yes they stack, it's been a while since i enhanced with spheres, but they did.(also note the first enhance is by +20, after if is only +10, so use a sphere first, weapons max out at +150, excluding enhancing devices)
the other enhancers enhance any currently selected weapon of the required damage type stated in it's description(the tritium i think is thermo), the spheres enhance any weapon with the energyweapon modifier, there may be a level limit but i don't know what.
