Just finished mopping up the two swarms of Ares set to destroy the stronghold in Point Juno. And did not hesitate to accept the next mission to take out those long range Nukers.

Have jumpdrive will travel, and so I did. But I managed to jump slightly off course to where those Nukers were and ended up coming upon them boadsided. As anyone who have ran this mission before will know that it's set for auto-target on the lead ship.

So, with my omni Ion cannon a blazing, pushing my freighter as fast as it could go, I got them in visual range and discovered my shots were hitting the outer wing. It blows just as I'm fixing to pass them and the explosion triggers the next wing, then the next....And here I am trying to do an impossible maneuver by jarting my freighter away from it all....Nope, instead I ended up in the middle of the multi-explosions as each Cometfall turned to crispy cinders!

My enhanced Nephren X1 Shield went down quicker than a blink of an eye, leaving my orthosteel armor exposed to the brutality of those explosions and I thought I was next in line for the writeup in the deceased columns!

Thanks to Domina, I lived to tell about it when I returned to the stronghold. My armor HP was about the same as titanium, it was that close! I have to say that being in the middle of those multi-explosions was absolutely breath taking!

I once set off a chain reaction in the main eridani station (it's explosion killed the surrounding stations and there was nothing but wrecks left...)

:D it was a phobos that killed that main station btw- (reinforcement roms are fun!)

Impressiv, but it shows the problem of explosions. They are just too strong.

Its very exploitativ when you decoy big ships to a station and the station is destroyed in the blow of the ship. Thats just cheating.
Cheaters, you can have this easier by putting 3 pteracnium rods in a crate and blasting it ... destroys nearly everything, if not use some more fuel rods !!!

What do you think about the endless stream of spawns ?

What about modding wandering spawns which dont attack the player directly ?

That wasn't cheating- that was a misfortune of being in the middle of weapons testing grounds...

Brings up an interesting point, though. Perhaps it'd be worthwhile to enhance the AI such that ships above a certain class (i.e. large enough to know better) will actively avoid allied stations that are near destruction. Dunno how difficult that would be, though.

If i'd've tried that, my computer would have crashed. Earlier today I fired a kiloton cannon in some asteroids. The asteroids shot their little rocks and the game froze up.

The biggest issue I've seen with explosions (aside from the fact that they are probably my #1 cause of death :P), is that Gaian Processors are now massive time bombs waiting to blow up any base they come across.

I've come across very advanced bases of all sorts (ringers, takion, etc) blown up because they destroyed a Gaian Processor too close by. This wouldn't be such a problem, but it makes it very easy to salvage tons of Tech VII-X equipment from those bases without having to do any work or getting yourself into trouble with them.

I'd suggest toning down the damage - or at least the WMD value - of ship and ammo explosions. They are a pretty cheesy way to take out bases right now.

I have, in fact, been killed by a gaian *wreck* explosion. Even the disintegration has a wmd value! what's up with that?

PS: a quick word out to all my fellow "cheaters" - you may have noticed that immediately after a taikon station blows up, a corporate cruiser comes to salvage the bling. If you want to loot the station, you must do so immediately after the explosion.

Edited to add: I didn't realize until just a second ago that wrecks now have a % damaged number to indicate how much damage until they disintegrate.
