Last night I got to the Iocrym with a loadout that couldn't scratch him - a +100 Fusionfire, +100 Alkari Turret, and a +30 multi-target ion cannon (forgot the name of it). I had no trouble with my 260 strength plasma shield, as long as I kept moving he couldn't get me down very low, but nothing I had would reduce his shield below 97%.

So, I tried the Circle of Wrath power, but I missed. So then I tried Shatter.

Totally wiped out his shields and took him to 11% damage. I was able to get the damage up to over 30% before his shields came back on, and I had to leave.

This is making me think it should be possible to beat the Iocrum with a non-optimized loadout with a combination of Shatter and Circle of Wrath. Has anyone tried doing it that way?

The weapon you were using was an IM-90.

And, if memory serves, beating the Iocrym with Shatter disintegrates it. You might want to avoid that. ;)

One could use Shatter to knock down it's shields and damage it lightly, then finish it off with Circle of Wrath. One of the recent updates also increased the amount of damage it takes to destroy the wreck of the Iocrym, it may not be a big risk.

Well, I experimented, and it doesn't work. Either one will knock down the shields and take it to about 20% damage. The second one will not take it above around 31% damage. It does not matter which order you do them in.

that's more than enough, in my opinion, the hardest problem is to take down the shield, then you can slowly starting to destroy the armor.

if the shield start to regenerate, use the second power and continue to destroy the armor :D

I hadn't considered saving the second Domina attack to drop the shields again once they start regenerating, but I don't think that will be enough with my loadout. I'm only able to do about 11% damage with the IM90 alone with the shields down. The way I think it would play out is:

First Domina attack - shields down and 21% damage.

Shoot with IM90 until shields start to regenerate - this takes it up to about 32% damage.

Hit with second domina power - this will drop shields again. Not sure how much damage it does, before it took it to 31% with shields down. We'll assume that it does about 10% of armor damage on top of dropping the shields, though I'm not convinced it will as in all my experiements the second attack brought it to 31% damage, even with shields down,

So, best case scenario has shields dropped and damage up to 41%. I still could only get it up to 54% damage or so before the shields will come back up.

If you can get 15 longzhou spheres, that IM90 at +150% should theoretically do 27-28% in the 100 seconds of shield down-time, not to mention being able to drop the shields themselves as well.
Enhancing it just short of the amount it needs to kill the shields though won't mathematically work: since you can only get it to about 31% with domina powers, you have to have a weapon that can do (100-31)/2=34.5% damage in 100 seconds, the IM90 wouldn't cut it, as it maxes out at 27-28%, fully enhanced, at which point it can knock out the shields anyways.
