I think it would be a good idea to put a second button beneath that for the primary download that gives the option to download the beta; it would send them to a screen that would say something like "This is a beta version, *disclaimers*", with a link at the bottom for the download, or perhaps a link to whatever forum thread they are in?
This way it would help get the news out to people who look on the main site for news, without them mistaking it for an official, stable version (also allowing them to download a stable version as well, if they so choose)
I mean, Ttech didn't even realize that 1.02 was out until he put 2 & 2 together about the IRC discussions. (He even missed my huge wall of me monologuing about updating all the stuff for 1.02, from the IRC topic, to the xelerus tags, to the wiki version page, to all the cool new things in 1.02.
Suggestion about beta versions & being on the site
