TX2 buffs the APA impressively (more range, twice fire-rate, can take speedloader )

If you hang back & shoot them with an omni, (in vanilla), you will have to be perfectly lined up. Even then you'll probably burn through a good amount of fuel. (Atarlost finds this as the primary reason he ends up netting negative fuel after fighting them)

(That's what I've been able to interpret anyways. I can kill them taking no damage, and using maybe... 25-30% of my hyperion's fuel, which is about half to a fourth of what they yeild. I refuel at CSCs anyways, so free fuel is good)

Hang back and shoot with omni? No omni I know of has a range of 100+, unless you are including tracking missiles like Gotha-400 Seekers. As for "perfectly lined up", that is exactly what I am talking about. The Phobos is as dumb as Star Control's Ur-Quan Dreadnought. Sure, the Phobos will veer a bit to the side as you shoot it. Obviously, you line it back up. Recoil from a howitzer is helpful for subtle movement. Yes, you may burn through fuel. So what? You can get it back for free at the CSC; or if you cannot, just warp to a system with the Sisters, donate some cancer dust (or 500 credits worth of meds), 400 credits worth of low level food (stuff the fabricator won't eat), or 750 credits worth of fuel rods; and use Pilgrim's Aid for refill. The fuel donation is kind of funny. You give 750 worth of fuel, the Sisters give back several thousand credits worth, assuming you have a 500 MW or 1 GW reactor.

Hanging back and shooting at the Phobos as it mindlessly chases you, while you remain 90-100 ls away at all times is tedious but safe. I am sure there are other, faster ways for a well-equipped ship to destroy a Phobos in a toe-to-toe fight.

I was playing with mods, but it was still a "fair" fight, at least as fair as it can be when I have a human level of intelligence, domina powers, a full set of octocarbide +50, a nephron x1 +efficient, an im90 and ion lancer both +fast, a hyperion, a jumpdrive, and 7 patch spiders being maintained by 5 advanced repair droids to fix myself after the fight... As for my ship (it comes after the agaupera in the image over my rank) it's a "jack of all trades, master of none", but it can still dodge a lot of the incoming shots.

I could keep this up forever, but why? I already have about 2000 fuel rods (and a mobile fuel refinery auton just to carry it), 5 plasma archcannons 10 lightning turrets, 4 spare kaiduns, and a crate full of armor I can't carry. I think I'll stop here. It's time to install that positron lancer or plasma cannon and finish the game so I can start testing a mod.

Alterecco suggested I do a video playthrough sometime, though I decided, 1.02 i too buggy, 1.03 ruins balance with the military hyperion, so I'm going to wait till 1.04, and simply work on TX2 for the duration of 1.03. Also gives me time to get my soundcard's drivers working for recording audio.

By installing five? They're capacitor based, so having five makes for near continuous fire. More is better, but five is enough to take out a deimos before slowing down, or most of a phobos with strengthen. Plus I'm only a couple tons from overloading; I need lighter armor before I can use a sixth.
