I've been a huge fan of Transcendence for many years. But yesterday was the day I finally passed Heretic without resurrecting from the start screen. But when I went to admire my statistics, I was shocked to see a score of 500k and a note saying "Resurrection 1 time."
I suppose it doesn't matter because I know I didn't resurrect, but I'm kind of curious what the deal is.
At one point I did get killed by the Slicer with his brutal siege mags, but I had insurance so I thought it didn't count. At another point the game crashed for unknown reasons, but when I started it back up again it said "Start from [some galaxy]" instead of saying "Resurrect from [some galaxy]" so I thought I was going to be okay.
1.06 was great by the way. I found that a IM90 multitarget blaster pumped to 140% damage via longzhu spheres was the ticket to victory against those Ares Dreadnoughts that always used to get me.
Does dieing with insurance count as a resurrection?

everything can go to 150%.
As for the Resurrection: I know that if the game crashes or you die: any non restart of the game = Resurrection.
So long as your running on same save file.
If you run without dying: totally without dying: then you should not see any resurrections. the only ways I have known to do this are mining like a mad Pilgrim to gain credits / Rins : I even mine in the Elysium system if I get the chance: AND: Super DRONE counts!!! : I am a huge fan of having Autons surround my ship and have even used a poor Mule as cover a few times
.
Note:
Mining is an easy distraction and Hostiles can sneak up on you while you are concentrating on your operations, but the Asteriods also provide you with cover so it is a give and take situation: Killing Ferians is NOT advised, it is better to earn your Ore the old fashioned way.
First time I encountered ferians there were maybe 50 dead....it was shocking to find so many dead ships but I looted them all and watched the live ones: this is how I actually got into mining and learned it is relaxing and profitable

Flying Irresponsibly In Eridani......
I don't like to kill pirates in cold blood ..I do it.. but I don't like it..

I feel like if I played it through again I'd be able to survive even without insurance. The slicer got me with the siege mags because I panicked and didn't hit the right button combination to use my domina powers in time. Usually he goes down without issue.
What would always kill me were those Ares Dreadnoughts. I love fighting the dreadnoughts; is like killing a dragon in D & D. But my ego usually gets the better of me and I keep fighting when I should retreat. The rest of the game doesn't pose much of a risk now that I have a sufficient knowledge base.
The weapons I pick now are almost always Smart Cannon + Cannon Accelerator-> Smart Cannon + Cannon Accelerator + Reismesser Upgrade -> Akan Omni + hexagine + Reismesser Upgrade -> IM90 multitarget blaster + Every Longzhu sphere in the game (with every corporate trading post used for one).
I also usually have whatever howitzer I can afford to take out buildings.
And for armor, I pick whatever is resistant to Ion effects so that I don't get paralyzed to death or lose my reactor+super-weapons to the hated Ventari. And for shields I'm just a size-queen, going the Mammoth route until I can get the Ares Dreadnought shields, which I then upgrade with that field crystal that gives +30% The Domina power that replaces shields makes the 1000+ shields feel downright exploitative. Finally, a long-reach cannon is shockingly effective at nullifying the attacks of the final boss.
I've never done manual mining. I always kill Ferians by blowing up their base from a distance and then flying to a friendly building. The plasma weapons will splash the building and cause them to start fighting, at which point it's usually a waiting game. Ringers and Commonwealth Carriers can take out ferians with the greatest of ease, so it's actually more useful to lead them to a weaker building like an Adventure's outfitters. That way the ferians just might destroy the building for you and let you loot it. And in the end game, I tend to kill every Teraton nest that has nothing I'll buy, and then use the domina power that grants temporary invulnerability to loot it.
