Obviously, the pilot cannot haul a massive device or segment of armor on his own, and his ship does not have teleporters to beam up stuff. What does the pilot use to (un)load items? Power loaders? Autonomous robots of some sort? Nonsensoleum?

I assume a combination of power-loaders and small, automated reaction thrusters. I also assume that looting mostly happens in zero-gravity.

The pilot just has to disconnect a 3-ton device, use reaction thrusters to maneuver it into the ship's bay, and then secure it to the cargo hold.

In zero-gravity, the problem is dealing with momentum. As long as you don't give your 3-ton device too much momentum, you should be OK.

Do ships in the Trans-verse have artificial gravity?

Location: in the apprenticeship program at a Tinker station....

When handling big stuff, a lot could probably be done with a low tech, low-speed winch and some kind of shock absorbing buffer mounted in the back of the cargo bay, or maybe even just a net to stop the stuff.
