I have a real solution to the Dwarg that does not involve modding :D I thought of this this morning. Buy a morning star cannon and shoot down the EMP thingies!

The morning star solution i have GOT to try. the cluster MAG solution might well work, but i can't find them before the dwarg masters appear.

Barricades... One or two titanium1 (40HP) barricades WILL stop the EMP's and they're easily found long before ever entering Dwarg season. Even damaged barricades work fine. And since those D masters like to make long-range circling attacks, those barricades can be repositioned to counter them.

Although for me, I'm NAMI in a freighter and those precious stilletto's are my anti-Dwarg master answer. After a few DMaster kills and with loot luck, I'll rig my freighter with a Cnidocyst cannon and fight fire with fire, rinse and repeat 'till the system's clean.

Usually where there's Dwarg, there's Sung and with Sung, there's Citadels and with Citadels there's longzhu sphere's...and if you're a freighter chances are you'll have a thruster installed. Want more speed? Try a longzhu on your thruster!

I'm going to have to try the Longzhu sphere on my drive. I didn't know you could do that.

I found out, that the dwarg master is really vulnerable to laser...
So I keep my omni (turbo)laser with an collimator - only takes a few shots to take out a master. The drawback is that you have to get close to it...

Once I managed to lure a bunch of dwarg into a fleet of barbarys...
so many helpless ships spinning around EMP'd as they futily tried to catch me...

Actually, I havn't been EMP'd ONCE by dwarg in .99a... :? (now by a barbary is something totally different)

I haven't checked the XMLs, but it's almost like the Dwarg Masters got weakened a bit. Not only have I yet to be EMPed by one (using a Class V deflector +20%) but it doesn't seem like they have the capability to snipe me from clear across the system. I just get as close to them as possible and gun them down with my X Ray laser. It also seems that they have considerably less ammo before.

The little raiders that follow them around, on the other hand, are slightly more problematic. A cloud of those things can really do a number to my shield. A system or two before Sanctuary I had the misfortune of a Sung Fortress and THREE Dwarg bases all around the same planet. The Dwarg kept sending reinforcements. I probably took down 4 masters and 100 raiders before they stopped coming. The battle lasted for around 20 minutes, and I was quite satisfied when they finally fell.

Also, I just want to say that the Class V shield is my new favorite mid-game shield. I usually tried to grab a YoroiS500, but those are tough to come by and suck down 60% of a 50MW reactor. The Class V is just as resistant to Ion/Particle as the NephrenP25, but it's also highly resistant to laser, and uses almost 50% less power.

Dwarg masters have not changed.
Maybe its related to the new levelbased absorbtion of shields and armor.

whats a Class V deflector ?

It's a new "notforsale" item. It's hard to find though...

SPOILERS

You get it when you're promoted to a Master in Korolov. There's also a chance to get it if you save the Charon Korolov and then destroy all the pirate bases.

Ah, I see a new unbalanced Korolov gimick.
I never became Master, because I headed for the first three frigates that where lurking around ... then I was promoted from Journeyman to Legend -.-
The shield is nearly as good as L6 shields but with half of power consumption.

A very good shield versus dwarg and sung with its significant part and ion resistance. :-/

As far as vs Dwarg and Sung, it's identical to the NephrenP25, which is significantly cheaper if I recall correctly. It just has added protection against laser, which becomes increasingly rare as you progress through the game. The power consumption is quite nice, but you can't really compare it to level 6 shields because of the new by-level base damage resistances. Because it's a lower level shield, it will struggle more against damage types that it's not specifically resistant to, such as kinetic and blast.

It may be a tad overpowered, but it's not easy to get. Some of those freighters can't take more than a volley or two from a Frigate.
