Code: Select all

You get bonus points if you can make it back to the star without using code!

I've looked up some of the real star positions relative to earth, or my best approximation, and found that they are all within 150 ly radius of Sol. I did all this when making my galactic map but lated decided not to use it.

The diameter of the Milky way is 100 000 light years, we're about 2/3rds of the way out one arm, 26 400 ± 1 600 light years away.

I assume that the QZ is meant to span at least 10 000 light years and the names are simply drawn from our real local cluster for 'game flavour' and do not necessarily imply that all of Part 1 is a measly 0.4% of the journey.

True, but of course, core beings know nothing of that pesky nuisance known as dieing of old age. They call people, and never wonder why they randomly die just before they get there...

Interesting... I wonder just how big the QZ is. That means I might be able to include some other goodies in unexplored regions, etc.

Well, there are roughly 26 systems from Eridani to Heretic, so assuming that is the strait line, and that the Iocrym are AI or at least highly ordered, they probably have it in a circle or sphere, so pi*r*r is rougly four hundred-five hundred I think. Or if it is indeed a sphere (unlikely as galaxy's are typically a single pane) it would be 4/3 pi*r*r*r which numbers in a few thousand. Either way, it is quite large. Assuming it isn't just the 26 systems.

WE don't know for sure, we know the ancient races did, and the Iocrym are an ancient race. However I agree and it was discussed before that the Iocrym might be more of the rats of the ancient races. :)
