The x-ray is just a bit easier to aim, for me. It also does a better job on stuff like Huari.
Of course, if you can have both...
I did it!

strange, nowhere has it as preset, and nowhere generates majoritem10
I've found the Laz a couple of times--grabbed it the first time then quickly sold it because I couldn't keep enough fuel to support the hog. Din't even bother getting it ever again after that. Found it at the Venturers, BTW.
Besides, IMHO, the shield for the money is the Nephrin X1 @ 200HP--150MW. At stock, average regen that holds its own when taking a great deal of pounding from anything in the game, pre-Iocrym.
Of course, against the Iocrym it's enhanced +150 upping it to 500HP....if possible.

Ridiculously over enhanced veil is my favorite. teratons have a small chance of generating a Lazarus, if i read the code correctly, as they generate 5 majoritem9s with a level curve of 2, which i believe means they have a range of 8 to 10. ventures has the same, but with +alien, so it shouldn't gennerate a Lazarus in a normal game. ringers might have the same as the teratons.

It might have been a wrecked salvage freighter from a Taikon Ventures station. I really don't remember.
I haven't tried the X1 before...I'll have to look into that.

X-ray laser! Pew, pew pew!

The X1 is good but I prefer the Tailkon-200 with an Ion reflect (with those Deimos it really is necessary, even with the X1) since it barely takes damage from the Iocrym, and holds up against other pressure without problems. There really isn't enough positron to really make the negative positron resistance a bad thing. 190 MW is a also a good power drain since it often puts me 10 MW short of my maximum.
Using both isn't really an option in my opinion. To use both weapons at their best you need the collaminator or accelerator and those are precious device slots that you'll be quickly tempted to replace with the ICX, Patcher arms, etc.Fossaman wrote:The x-ray is just a bit easier to aim, for me. I suppose I generally rely on what is available. I've found more x-ray lasers than I've found dual flensers, after that it comes somewhat down to aesthetics: The x-ray has pretty purple beams, the flenser makes chunks of enemies, rocks and so on fly away.
