There's a glitch where a ship in formation doesn't respect its own max speed. Get a group of fleet wingmen (or a dwarg behemoth) and fly in a straight line, they will keep up despite not having an enhanced titan fusion drive. I think the ferian warriors going so fast is somehow related to that. They are only fast when they are close in my experience, If I can shake them off my tail by a ls they are slow again. Granted it has been a while.

As for my worst/deadliest enemies:

dwarg masters, and to a lesser extent barbaries, If I don't have proper armor.
phoboses (phobii?), worldships, arks. They're strictly speaking extremely deadly and must be handled with care.
Ventari, I'm pretty sure the they hate me, probably has something to do with my fleet's new sn2500 reactors.

Staying in the fight too long is what gets me more often than not, that and using low power drain shields.

I ran into my first Ventari today. it was a Ventari destroyer. I have nnever in all my time playing this game experienced such utter loathing and HATE for something as I do the Ventari. Nothing else has been able to penetrate my shields- not even a swarm of Ferians (mostly because I can move just right to dodge the warrior's blasts, but the Miners I can just soak the shots usually)- but the Ventari shredded my shield and all but destroyed all four plates of my Heavy Ithalium that not even a Ranx DN and squadron and a Gaian Processor together could do more than scratch. Not only that, but that single ship took more time and effort to destroy than a Gaian Processor. God damn!

Amari: Are you playing 1.05? You haven't even seen the worst of the Ventari. Their equipment used to have device damage
Now, they just ionize :(
I actually liked the Ventari that way because it would explain how they were able to survive in the Outer Realm-- nobody would want to get their devices damaged, so they were able to colonize in peace.
Ventari are actually really crunchy for me

My worst enemy? Myself. I always stay in a fight way too long :( if you actually stay safe (no fighting stronger enemies/ taking good precautions [even encounter events usually can't kill the player]/ knowing when to leave), it's pretty much impossible to die in this game. I was actually disappointed to realize that :(

I wasn't, because it is being Crazy Prepared. When you are ready for anything, you can deal with it. Being cautious and smart about everything is how you get heroes- people like Jean Luc Picard who even while exploring the frontiers of Federation territory, he still is very smart about how he deals with -everything-. hell, he's so Crazy Prepared that not even Q can out-Xanatos Gambit him. I love the fact that if you prepare for it, you can deal with it. It's just... real?

Also: Device damage could be repaired at stations that repaired things, right? If not... ._. Eek.

Nope, it could not be (Except Rasiermesser stations, which can repair only their own products, or you'd have to waste a longzhu)

Also, Heavy Ithalium is thermo & plasma resistant, its not meant for ion/particle protection.

Not really; I mean, it has a 125% modifier against it, and that's one of the highest I've seen so far- Aside from Diamond Lattice's 150%, but that stuff only has 380 HP.

And it still doesn't change the fact that it tore through a +20% nephron X1 (which is fairly strong against Ion, +75% with a rather good regen) and almost entirely through four plates of 500 HP before it FINALLY died, when nothing else lives that long or can do comparable damage. It was a hook outta left field, and the only reason i lived is because I called in my escort fleet to assist in annihilating it. ._. Currently working on either a) stronger weapons, or b) stronger shields. haven't been having much luck aside from abusing teraton for either though...

the +125% modifier is a result of the level curve: actually, the raw level curve provides a +150%, so its lower than what its level should be.

Also octocarbide (and even hexacarbide & probably quadrocarbide) have higher resists to ion (though they lose to vs. thermo & plasmainstead)

Quadro is 200 HP at 125, Hexa is 115 at 300, and Octo (which I have never encountered; Diamond Lattice and Heavy Ithalium are the best I have and the Diamond is mostly on my cargo ship) is at 400 with 225, something I'd definitely use if I could only get my hands on it. Hexa and quadro are both quite inferior to ion and general damage comparative to the Heavy Ithalium and Diamond Lattice (they are Level X armor pieces for a reason after all). Note all numbers obtained now and in my previous post were from the wiki.

tl, dr; Octo is better, sure, but I haven't seen a scrap of it. i'd use it otherwise. Hexa and Quadro are both nowhere near as good as the octo version.

Edit: ...Well then. I met my first Worldship today. It ruined me. x-x I need better weapons!

I'm killed most often by suicide unde vey specific circumstances.

I go to the Arena with my trusty omnidirectional laser cannon, only to discover an opponent in the qualifiers with a shield that I cannot destroy. After realising this, I self destruct. Voila, specific suicide.
