Uh..do you mean the S3 medusa, or the M2 Vulcan? My general thought on the TM7 as it is now....it's a nice weapon, but a REALLY good way to kill friendlies as well. If it wasn't for the slightly.....ah....EDGEY way the shells can scatter, I'd say it was one of my favorite weapons.

Wolfy<--I don't need to mention the Gaian Demo-cannon, you did in the OP :P

That stuff was .99c, with the restart of the discussion, it's now about rc2 stuff

also, the penitent cannon. Need I say more?

S3 Medusa, since that's its closest relative.

Though I'd have to say, a main aspect of games like Transcendence is that these weak and useless weapons are meant to be there, for the player to figure out that they are and then sell them.

One last plea here before 1.0 for the penitent cannon to get a boost, an enhancing device, a cool alternate use beyond giving it to Dvalin or the teratons, or anything, really. As far as weapons go, it is a perennial white elephant.

It doesn't even make any real money as a level 4 item. :P

Agreed. Can we have a SkipShields thing? So if "SkipShields=true", the weapon ignores shields? Or maybe something that ignores them on a fraction of all hits (like the 0-7 system for WMD and mining). That matters less than it would in 0.99c (when shields were the almighty system of protection, rather than PART of that system).....but that, plus a dmage buff (the way I see it, this should instakill Viking Is and maybe even Corsair IIs at the least, given that it turns up when XM900s and TEV9s are around, and T is a VERY slow-firing and medium-low velocity weapon)....might make it at least a NOTICABLE weapon.

We have skipshields. OnDamageShields can make a shield skipping weapon in one line.

Right. Let's see it used that way then. :)

Penitant cannons skipping shields, and doing more damage.....would make them an interesting weapon. As opposed to a useless weapon that makes Penitants seem like Centauri.....apart from that annoying 'Harrass" thing.

I know....I saw a discussion about it when I first crawled into these forums, and remembered it when the Penitant Cannon was brought up here.

Weapons that skip shields....nice things, but let's hope there's only one or two ;)

You can make a weapon that skips part of the time, but you can't yet make a weapon that splits its damage because ondamageshields only has one return and doesn't apply damage not done to armor to shields.

That's what I was thinking of.....imagine a weapon a little like a katana starcannon, only instead of passthrough on armor every so often, it has shield skipping every so often. it MIGHT make it worthwhile......however, the damage WOULD have to stay low, otherwise it'll be an iocrym killer that turns up just past St. Ks....

Look at the pteravores. They take shield level into account.

Hmm... Is there any weapon that can do the same thing like a pteravore? It would be really cool... I mean, the pteravores are damaging your armor, taking your fuel... Hey.. Is the fuel useful to enemy ships? Can they ever ran out of fuel?
If you cannot say something nice about somebody, you better don't say anything.
