Is it possible to find Svalbard if the research station has been destroyed?

yes, just fly around and you can find it sitting about 100ls away from the manipulators

Hehe:) One more thing.. is it possible to edit the save file so i may arrive to a fresh Heretic? I used a sphere very early in the game and entered the first and what i though the easiest portal. Now when I arrived at Heretic at level, all nearly all stations has already been destroyed:(

Without spoiling too much.. Are the missions from the research station crucial for completing the game? If not, it's not that important..

Nope; you can only start a new game X_X

You can also just kill all the blue ships that come after you and eventually you will get ... something (I don't remember what) in the wreck of one of them, and you can then give that to kate to shut down the QZ.

Anyone wonder why the Iocrym are carrying a rom labeled in Human speech, using Human technology? Roms are Human, and even "Heretic" is a name given to the system by Humans. The Iocyrm probably have their own name for it.
